Aptamil Poo question............

Hi, DS aged 10 days appears to be on a mission to win the world record for filling his nappy
He's been on Aptamil since day 3 and has been gradually increasing his "output" daily ! Its now got the point where he's pooing on average every 2 hours - He's not poorly (he is alert & feeding well)
From what I can gather from "google" Aptamil fed Babies are very "regular", but 10 times a day ...............?
Any suggestions ? I've got the health visitor coming on Wednesday, but if anybody else has experienced similar I'd love to hear.
Many Thanks

At that age my monster (breastfed) was pooping during every feed, so every 2-3 hours.
If you're worried talk to your HV, but I think newborns are just horrid that way

Bottle fed babies are positively compostable compared to breastfed ones... and it's the dickens to get out of babygros.. ergh (shudders at the memories)
Although breastfed ones did seem to have the ability to find the tiniest chink in the nappies' fastening...I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll

my LO, pooed an awful lot in the first few weeks. he was on aptamil as well.
nothing to worry about.'Children are not things to be moulded, but are people to be unfolded'0 -
DD was breastfed at that stage and oh yes... there was LOTS of poo
If worried call your HV - they have a number you can call if in doubt

I think its normal at that age bubs used to poo for england he eventually settled to one or two poos a day but they were enourmous and very often leaked so little and often could be better if you see what i mean. If its really worrying you then talk to your HV about it. :-):jFriends are like fabric you can never have enough:j0

Thanks for the replies, I suppose it must be normal for him -my other 2 were strictly "once a day" babies - might have to take out a mortgage to pay for the nappies !!!0

the Aptamil Comfort might help - supposed to help with digestive problem. I'm back on it to try & help LO poo but I've read it can help the other way as well.
On the Hungry Baby one Jack didn't poo for 4 days!A very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea

Thats interesting - I think I'll have to look into that one, at least the change in milk wouldn't be too drastic.0 -
both of mine had aptamil after BFing,
DD was a once a week type of poo-er
DS was once every 20 minutes
I highly recommend you use the pampers new baby ones with the extra layer that soaks it all up.. they were the only ones i found that kept the poo off his skin (which is important if they are going ALL the time)
if your babe does get sore from all the poop... get MORHULIN cream, you may have to order it in from the chemist but its an absolute god send and will clear the absolute worst nappy rash within a day (my DS had something akin to a chemical burn because of his stomach problems which resulted in acidic and very frequent poo, we tried everything and ended up with Morhulin... never looked back!)
also Aptamil easy digest (the comfort one) helped my DS a lot...
its a little more expensive but it was worth it for the change in him0 -

Like CG said it is more expensive - it's about an extra £1.
You have to make it up with boiling water so that the crystals in it dissolve so either make up each feed as and when you need it or make up a batch and then pop in the fridge and reheat when you need it.
I make enough for 24hours and warm when required but your obviously not supposed to. :shhh:
If you make with cooled boiled water then you end up with crystals around the edge of the bottle which is the stuff that helps their digestive system.A very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea
