I always think at that age their bowels are a bit like their bellies - cant hold a lot, if you catch my drift!! Which is why they seem to poop as much as they eat, if not more

Hi nottslass
I didn't use Aptamil but at this age, Edward was producing 12-15 dirty nappies per day and none of the health professionals turned a hair about this. They did start to investigate him when he got up to 2-3 dirty nappies per hour, but didn't find anything wrong and concluded he was fine, just more frequent than most. I'd mention it to the HV if I were you, but don't be surprised if you're told its within normal range. My other two were once a dayers as well, so it was a shock to us too.
If you aren't already doing this, you might want to think about using olive oil for the nappy changes rather than water or wipes to stop him getting sore. That was the biggest problem for us with the very many changes, but some metanium nappy cream to clear up the soreness then olive oil from then on in kept him comfortable. We just used cheap kitchen grade stuff but you can get medicinal stuff from the chemists if you don't want him to smell like a greek salad!
Hope things are otherwise going well.0 -
Both my DDs were breastfed at that age, but both pooped during every feed without fail - there was never a chance of popping them straight back into bed after a middle of the night feed. DD1 regularly got poop all the way up her back and into her hair, and/or completely filled one of the feet in her babygrow  regardless of what nappy I tried.
DD2 went on to Aptamil at around 3 months, but still pooped 8+ times a day. I thought that's just what babies did, and that my friends baby who pooped once a day was really strange
