I thought we might have a thread where we all looked a little better than the other one doing the rounds.

Post if you have done something over and above the normal parenting duties, to make your little one a better person.

I once paid £10 I didn't need to, to get DD into a amusement park, when under 5's were free. She was only just over and looked younger. I reckon £10 is a cheap price for her to learn honesty is good.

I can't stand a couple of kids in her class at school and have to bite my tongue not to say anything bad about them to her. Ditto parents.

I also bite my tongue about what I think is all the religious gumf she comes back from school with. She can make up her own mind when she's a bit older.

I can't think of anything else, which probably means I should post that on the bad Mummies thread.

I make sure they have a constant supply of fresh fruit/veg..

I make sure have 3 meals a day

They always have properly fitted shoes

They have excellent general knowledge

They have clean warm suitable clothes

Mine have experienced different religious beliefs and ways of worship to enable them to make an informed choice

They understand the value of family and being loved no matter what and that there is always someone there to talk to, support them

They know they are loved and wanted

No one can outdo me on this one i'm sure, I once let my daughter go to school an hour late and told her teacher she had the dentist so that I could be at my computer at 9 o'clock sharp at the moment the Miley Cyrus tickets went on sale so I could get her the best tickets.........

hmmmmmm......not sure that makes me a good mummy actually, I think I'll pootle back to the bad mummy thread before anyone starts throwing rocks at me.

(I breast fed both kids for a year each btw, used washable nappies, made my own baby food etc, yaddda yadda yadda ....... SO, yeah, I would join you up on that high horse you're sitting on but it's a long way down if I fall )

Aww, I stayed out of the other threads but this one is MUCH nicer.

- I promised myself that whenever my children asked a sensible
question I would always give an answer and if I couldn't answer it, I would find it out (google is my friend).

- I always let DD come in bed for a chat/cuddle/cartoons at 6.30am when her daddy leaves for work, even though I would love an extra half hour sleep. She comes in without fail .

- I try and help out at the children's school whenever I am needed as I know dd loves it.

- I make that both sets of grandparents are equally valued even though one set live over the other side of the world and the other (my parents) see them regularly.

DH still rocks when standing up for any length of time, all the nights he rocked crying babies for me.

And I am a FANTASTIC mum because I remembered that DS3 had a debating competition this Saturday just gone, and when I spoke to him about what he wanted for his packed lunch he was convinced it was a different weekend, only I was right. If I hadn't remembered, and insisted he should check when it was, he'd have turned up at his Saturday job when he wasn't expected, and wouldn't have turned up at the competition when he was expected.

Im a good mommy too ive made sure my little ones are independant and can do things for themselves unlike me who was uselss when i left home. They have a brilliant stepdad/dad who they can always talk to and he always stays up with bubs to let me sleep as he is away the majority of the time. Most importantly they know they are loved over and and above anything else on this planet :-)

I have been one of the saddo mummies who waited in line with her eldest daughter at midnight in Asda to get her the new Harry Potter book, so she would be the first to have it!

And my husband, bless him, his heart's in the right place, took half day off work to take her to the new Harry Potter movie, on the release day, because all of her friends were bragging about how they were seeing it first.... he also picked her up from school at lunch for a "dental appointment"!

Sorry but this is ridiculous. All those mums and dads in the other thread are not JUST bad. I'm sure they too do things which are really great for their children, at least in their eyes, just like most of the stuff that you have all posted are good in your eyes but may seem not normal to others.

Like someone said, this is a thread for people on their high horses to try to make them feel better about themselves.

Everyone has different ways of parenting. There is no right or wrong way!!!

With you on this one. So many times you hear parents coming out with crap or saying "I don't know".

If i'm not sure (i won't ever admit that mind; dad knows everything because he studied hard at school!!) I would say:

eg.....

"Dad, where are the pyramids and what are they for?"

"Ooooh! Let's look that up"

Onto the PC and we get videos, photographs and explanations. God bless the internet!!

Oh and i have also installed Britannica onto the PC - very good piece of software for enquiring minds.
