    Here we go again................... :D

They are well known for giving you a price online and then trying to knock it down once you've driven to a dealers. They also tend to give vastly under book price quotes

hiya, sorry, I did go and look back about 10 pages and couldn't see anything and not a lot came up in the search first. I can be flexible coz there's no finance outstanding but wouldn't go below the emailed price regardless - doesn't help that it's a Toyota lol

  • only experience i have is my OH, sold her Ford Fusion through them. Quoted £2200 which was £200 more than she'd been offered part ex, so she went ahead and figured even if they tried to knock it down, she'd still atleast get the £2k..... NOT A CHANCE!!!!! the delivery address turned out to be a Car Craft car park, and after inspecting the car they offered her £950!!!!!!!!:eek::eek:

By this point she'd already sorted the finance on her new car so part exing was no longer an option, it was this or having to SORN it and sell it privately, and who knows how long that could have taken. So she stayed and fought her corner. The offers went up by £50 for every hour that she stayed and annoyed them. After 4 hours, they came back with £1500, as it turned out they had already listed the car in an auction that afternoon, and if they didn't take delivery of the vehicle they would be liable for the listing fees! lol SPANNERS!!!! by this point my OH was sick of being there, and due at Vauxhall to collect her new car, so she accpeted the £1500 and swore to only ever part ex or privately sell her car from then on!

I only want rid of my car to free up bit of money and then I'll buy a smaller, cheaper car and put some money in the bank. We've been doing up our house and a few extra pennies can go a very long way. I will not leave with an offer any less than the original email because I do intend to change again next year so I'll just hold onto it and part-ex then if need be

Thanks for the replies so far :)

I have a car to sell which I can't part ex as taking a company car.

Glasses 'value' it at £5000, webuyanycar quote £3200 - although I am sure would offer much less when I actually turned up with it.

I have advertised it in aoutotrader for £3999 & stuck a for sale sign in it.

If it doesn't sell, is it worth taking to a local dealer, or are they likely to offer the same as webuyanycar?

Has anyone had success with car selling on ebay?

    Worked for me.
Offered me £810 online, then offered me £750 face to face.
I nearly bit the chap's hand off taking my pile of junk off my hands. Money cleared 3 days later, perfect.

To me, it only really works for lemons, sorry cars, worth < 1K.
