have read with interest albeit disgust that I am not the only one re the above name ..... almost 2 years i have saga running with the above - i contacted the ombudsmen as my bills are so very very huge and sp never ever respond to courteous letters and calls instead they have sent various bailiffs to my home - insight collections being the most recent but also grosvenor services who said they re bullying me and tht as i called ombudsment and was waiting for a response re courteous letters re cost etc then they had no place threatenting me - i am literally under the doctor now - combined other factors of course - but the SP saga has drained me ........ it is very scary having people come to you door and write to you with threats and just so undignified - worse still - I HAVE NEVER MISSED A PAYMENT AND DONE ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WRONG - AS anothr member stated i also had a rep at the door and the same situation as SP said they never knew him and didnt send him and he said my meter had to be changed and agreed bills were exceptionally high et etc - just the same as the other member !! almost same story -sadly i am not the end of my saga and do no know where to turn - having no spare cash for solcicitor fees but feeling that i should not be bullied and harassed and made ill when i have co operated and this giant sees me as small fry without a care - .... have changed provider but SP now ay I ower almost £500!!! i was out all day the heat and gas usage for the period was not even on as we were not around ..... desperate really am - people please be aware as this has made me ill and as i say am not out of the woods .....:(

I don't understand how you have never missed a payment but you are £500 in arrears, your post really isn't very clear. Can you start at the beginning and try to bullet point what has happened? Is your problem with high usage of gas AND electricity or just one utility? Have you ever had your meter checked to see if it is accurate? Have you invoked SP's complaints procedure? What has the ombudsman said?
To deal with bailiffs, head over to the Debt-free Wannabe board, and to this website, which is run by Herbie21 who posts on MSE regularly: http://bailiffadviceonline.co.uk/about_us.htmDeclutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -
I think even the SP rep would first like to know the reason the OP is being asked for £500 and why the OP disputes this, before being able to offer any useful, specific advice.
Edit: Hmmm....what happened to the post that this was made in response to???"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
Hi Claire
Sorry to hear about your situation. It's never nice to hear about customer's being scared by debt letter and visits when they do not understand why this is happening. I am confident that this matter can be addressed and an explanation provided to you regarding the debt and the debt action. If there is an outstanding balance I am also sure that we can agree on a mutually acceptable solution.
Firstly, you state that you never missed a payment. How were you paying for your electricity? Direct Debit? Quarterly“Official Company Representative

Firstly, you state that you never missed a payment. How were you paying for your electricity? Direct Debit? Quarterly on receipt of invoice? Were invoices billed to accurate meter reading?
When you changed supplier did you receive a final invoice which billed your account to an accurate meter reading?
Why do you think that you are being overcharged?
There is absolutely no need for you to involve solicitors at this stage when you can request all the answers for free and if you are still not happy with the answers you receive from ScottishPower, you can then take the matter to the Energy Ombudsman who will carry out a full investigation for you without charge.
You mention that you have written to ScottishPower and that we have not responded to you. This needs to be addressed first, I would suggest writting again and providing as much information as you can to explain why you believe that we have overcharged you? The more information you provide the better the investigation we can carry out for you and also provide you with the answers you are looking for.
You are far better to contact us sooner rather than later. If you are disputing the outstanding balance and you have good reason for this, we will be able to hold debt action while we investigate the account for you.
If you would like me to investigate any details of your account then send an email to me providing all relevant information (email address is held within our profile page).
Please let me know if you have any further questions as I am also keen to resolve this matter for you.
Kind Regards

There are template letters on the Debt-free Wannabe board to stop this harrassment.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -
Well i switched from them recently, they decided to bill me earlier than it would normally of been, (something they told me they could not do for me)as it would clash with other bills ,
anyway i owe them £70.00 on my final bill ,i rang them and asked them for more time to pay to which they agreed to, but before that date arrived they started ringing me,i missed the calls and by the time i had listened to the message they had left it was too late in the day to ring them back,
then the next day or the day afterwards i got a letter from scottish power (insight collections) demanding payment in full or £10.00 "legal fee's" may be added ,lol
i only got the one bill no reminders, further to this they have started bombarding my phone with calls, which i'm not going to answer, and i have a message for those idiots @scottishpower harrassing me will not get your money any faster i will pay wen i decide to pay you, keep on ringing me every hour and i'll make you wait longer, and dare ring me during unsocial hours i will give your muppet in the call center some very unsocial verbals got it? 10+ calls in one day is ridiculas if i get really peed off they will get told to F***off0 -
So we have debt for both gas and electric. The electric is £149 but we are still getting bills, the gas we have had just one bill, when we closed the account as we moved and already not even 2 weeks later we get a bill from Insight Collections.
Oh the only person who scottish power will talk to is the named person on account, who left ages ago and thinks he can get away with not paying. His mothers excuse was 'he has no money' well that doesn't mean it will go away. Both these people whould rather spend all their benefit money on fags & alcohol. They lived in the same house with my partner, who they expected to pay all the bills. I did for a short time and I ended up paying the debt that was put on the meter!!!!!!!!!!!
I closed the account online as I knew it was never going to get done, everything is still in his name, nothing in our house is his, do we just do nothing?0 -
Hi debrag
Are there any tenancy agreements for the property to show who was living at the address?
