This is hard just admitting to it but...............today I sent my DS into nursery wearing navy blue Adidas trackie bottoms, trainers and...........a black hoody

No it wasn't gypo (urban dictionary version before I get told off) dress up day

It was washing day :D

My daughter wore her orangey pink tracksuit to nursery today with her shoes with heels! I told her it didn't go and to wear trainers, but she wouldn't listen and I couldn't be assed with the whole shoe argument again so I let her go in them! Guess it's true what they say about these young mums being bad mums, I was 19 when I had DS and 21 when I had DD.

I'm a bad auntie, my 3 nieces talk about getting coca-cola at auntie jennys but they're really getting diluted ribena (they only get milk/water at mums house).

I take the kids to mcdonalds then bribe them to tell their mum that I gave them organic corn fed chicken and potatos.

I let niece 2 run riot in the swing park because i can't keep up with her.

I once forgot to bring baby food out with me and fed one of the kids a baked potato and cheese - she's still alive 6 years later.

So 13 weeks on my 'bad mummyness' is coming out more and more :p

Before: when her dummy hit the floor i would either sterilise it or wash it in boiling water.
Now: I just stick it in my mouth to 'wash' it and give it back to her.

Before: I said i wouldn't use said dummy unless she was in real need of sucking it.
Now: It gets her to sleep easier and who am i to deprive a baby of sleep?

Before: When BF didn't work out, i intended to make each feed fresh.
Now: I make 6 at 8pm for the next 24 hours and leave in the fridge until she needs me to heat it and add the powder for her.
I also heat said bottle in the microwave and shake it :p

Before: I would change her clothes each morning and night.
Now: I let her stay in her babygrow all day and night sometimes, unless she's been sick on it.

Before: When changing her nappy i would holding her little legs in the air so delicately so they wouldn't snap off.
Now: I almost lift her in the air upside down :rotfl:

I also shout BOO at her to make her jump, but she does love this, it makes her laugh
I gave her a tiny bit of whipped cream from my dessert to see if she liked it. She loved it.
I let her watch TV as it interests her.
I sometimes pretend to be asleep so her dad has to deal with her morning crys!
If she has got a tiny bit of poo on a clean vest, i just wipe it off the best i can with a wipe and leave her in it :o

But, to balance it out a bit:

I sit and play on the floor with her for ages at a time.
I aim to make her smile most of the day.
I always give in and let her sleep on me if she's being very cute and cuddly towards me.
I encourage her to roll and to play with her toys.
I sit and hold her legs up so she can see her feet and play with them :p:)

I've got to confess that when DS was a baby I had to go back to work when he was 12 weeks old, and as he never slept for more than 3 hours day or night I was exhausted. :o To save time in the mornings for the nursery > work dash, I would dress him the night before in his clothes, then just change his nappy in the morning and take him to nursery. He must still have some issues with this, cos now, if I let him, he will sleep in his school uniform and just get up and go straight to school :rotfl: But, he never looks grubby, honestly!

I think this thread is
brill. I work in a nursery with many over pampered kids - if a baby cries, mum immediately picks it up. Toddler falls over, looks for reaction and then 'cries' so dad goes rushing over. Raining outside? DEAR GOD DONT LET THEM OUT - THEY'LL CATCH A COLD!!!!!!!!!!

It's nice to hear from parents who let kids be kids - if they cry, try ignoring them; if they fall over, tell them to get up; if it's raining then get out there and jump in puddles.

I'm fed up of seeing 4 year olds who converse like 40 year olds because their parents are too serious with them, rather than 4 year olds who fall over laughing at the word '
poo'.

Kids will be kids for as long as we let them....

I'm now going to play with my train set.

• Have just found this thread and read the first few pages and can't stop laughing!

I too am a bad mummy to my 18 month old dd!

-She was premature and despite my best efforts couldnt produce milk so she was FF from day one in SCBU
-she has always had disposable nappies and have used wipes from when she was a couple of months old-cotton wool just made the job too hard
-she slept in her own room from the day she came home from SCBU-admittedly whoever was doing the nightshift out of me and dh would sleep in there too but still...
-i leave her in her PJs all day if we aren't going out
-she gets given a snack and puts it on the living room floor and comes back to it then picks it up and eats it, i dont think this is a problem but my dad does!
-she shares her dinner with the dogs, and sits beside them and cuddles them and they lick her face-we are there of course!
-if she deliberately pours her juice on the floor i give her a wipe and make her clean it up-and she enjoys cleaning and carries on around the rest of the floor!
-I love dressing her up like a doll because she looks cute in little girlie clothes and i will use the pictures when she is older and has a boyfriend lol

i could go on an on, but im so glad im not the only 'bad mummy' on MSE!

We haven't been able to use our washing machine for a month (dodgy electrics) so my son's school jumper hasn't been cleaned in 3 weeks. It's starting to get a bit crispy...

Also, I follow the "5 second rule" for food that's fallen on the floor (cos that's how long it takes germs to crawl on the food, see...)

I also let my daughter wander about with a bowl of food (raisins, apple etc) - but she hasn't yet learned about gravity and so keeps tipping it onto the floor. No matter - as long as you catch her within 5 seconds, the food goes back in the bowl. The more pressing problem is what to do when I catch her eating food that fell on the floor the day before (or the day before that, or the day before that...)
