I will bring my previous trainers with me at the weekend (they weren't supportive enough for my dodgy ankle) but are proper running ones, and either a size 5 or 6, can't remember - you can give them a try and see if they are any different to yours. If they fit, you're welcome to them - I love them, but just can't run in them, so there's no point them living in my cupboard, and they are almost new."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250

pap seriously don't run in them again, they will only keep blistering taking the skin off. when you buy trainers you need to get them at least 1/2 size bigger than you would normally wear. I normally wear 4.5 and my trainers are a 5.5. I too have wide feet and the only brand which I felt were comfortable and wide enough were brooks...love my trainers
sammy that is some list...I'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change and breakaway ....

Oh and also pap it might be worth investing in some anti blister socks for runnning....not everyone uses them but I wouldn't be without mineI'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change and breakaway ....

Talking of laughing - I just spilt a whole thing of soup over my desk and had to clean it up *rolls eyes*
Pap - they wont laugh! But I hate running shops too because some of them try to flog you stuff you dont need and it makes me nervous...I just dash in and run out as fast as possible
Racing shoes are meant to be worn without socks but I certainly wont be doing that again :eek:0

PAP you need to go and have your running analysed. If you put sports shops running analysis in on a search engine you should come up with something. Or ring a local sports centre or the sports development officer at your local council.
I run on the sides of my feet and slightly pigeon toed. My understanding is that my shoes have extra padding on the sides which throws my legs back to an upright position. I went to a sports shop with a camera behind the treadmill. They film your running and keep trying different shoes until your leg matches the vertical line on the film. Once they've sold you a pair of shoes you can get them off the internet for a reduced price. If you really like to splash the cash you can follow their recommendation, buy two different pairs of trainers and alternate them (but I have a feeling that just means they can sell two pairs of shoes rather than one!)

Thanks all, Snaggs don't feel the need to give me your old trainers. I think I will go to a shop (jjb/sports direct/jd sports/cheapo shop) and try loads on in a bigger size. Once I feel a bit more like a runner (in the loosest sense possible) I will go to a shop and be tested. It will definatly be before the race in June though so I can have a few runs in the then new ones Will that be ok? Sally I will look into those socks too, thanks. Will that be ok? Sally I will look into those socks too, thanks.
Thanks for all your help lady's. Its weird because I know nothing and I know no-one who has ran before so I am constantly asking questions 0 0

back from the docs, he thinks it's like a sty and has given us some antibiotics but she won't take them  I gave her a spoonfull and she gipped and spat it all over the sofa - damned good job it's leather, took some wiping off though!!!!
...Linda xxIt's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.0

Pap, I was just thinking that my old ones are about your size and too loose for me, so might be about right for you if your foot is wide - and as I can't wear them, it seems silly to have a decent pair of trainers shoved in a cupboard if someone else could be using them. If you don't like/fit/want them, the other girls can have a look too.
They're mainly white, not garish pink and silver like my beautiful current running shoes, I promise. :rotfl:
Funny you should say that Butti, my trainers aren't that comfortable to walk in really either - not UNcomfortable, but just not brilliant. Would rather wear my boots if I'm going for a walk."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250
