Afternoon everybody. Hope you are all well.

    Sweep, vacuum and mop floors
    Declutter and wipe worksurfaces
    [STRIKE]Shine that stinky sink[/STRIKE]
    Level Two
Wipe table replacing cloth if necessary.. I want to see pretty tables piles of mail and pens and goodness knows what else has to go!
Clear out a cupboard.. The one with baking supplies or the one with pans and plastic boxes.. GO!! Or you could, if you have one, clear the pantry!
Wipe and replace small appliances.. Clean one thoroughly!
    Level Three
Wipe units and large appliances.. don't forget kickboards!
Wipe the insides of all the cupboard doors!
Organise any cookery books.. Dusted, destickified and placed back tidily!
    [STRIKE]Dejunk window sills[/STRIKE]
    Extras
    1. [STRIKE]Wash/replace any scanky dishclothes/sponges etc[/STRIKE]
    2. Throw out those bacteria breeding chipped mugs and plates etc
    3. Sort out and restock medicine cupboards (I threw out loads from mine today :D)
    4. Wash the brushes, mops, dustpans etc.. how gross do these get?

I'm in the kitchen but I don't think I'm going to get much done today. I took down the nets and they're in the washing machine - I am embarrassed at how dirty they are but they have been there for 5 years (hides face in shame!).
I'm going to clean the window and sill and sink before I put them back.
If it hadn't been for this brilliant thread they would probably have been there another 5 years!
August Shopping Challenge. 26/8. Budget £250 Spent £256.81.. £6.81 over. So £0.00 a day left.

    Hugs to AnW'sMum.

I've not faired so well today, was all ready for it early this morning, but keep getting distracted by tv and internet. Plus my mum phoned and all matter-of-fact told me she'd put some of my stepdad's clothes in a charity bag for RNLI (he passed away a year and a half ago), she's being all brave about it and what do I do... burst into tears!

So things have been a bit slow today, although have made some HM veg soup and a shepherds pie (plus decluttered a kitkat with a cup of tea!)
Changed the dead spotlight in the kitchen which took far longer than expected. Continued with the hoovering the wooden blinds everytime the living room list comes around (they will end up dust free!) and dusted and deweb the front part of the front room (it's an L shaped frontroom/diner)

Well I suppose what I'm doing today is better than doing none of it at all, thanks again to all of you for this brilliant thread. :T

    Back to the hoovering............

I have set up my own 'recycling centre' in my house -

    four green plastic boxes for:
    paper/card
    plastics
    glass
metal/aluminium (when I have discovered what kind of metals they want you to recycle :) )

Plus, my 'kitchen composter' arrived today, so there should now be next to no waste for the bin men to take on a Thursday :j

The local council supplied everyone in our village with:
1 black wheely bin for household junk
1 small box for all the stuff they want to recycle
1 big green wheely bin for garden waste (who would want to throw this away when it makes perfectly good free compost??)

They empty the black bin weekly, the green box fortnightly and the green bin monthly. I have 3/4 acre garden so the green bin is full before i finish mowing the lawns once (and i do them twice in the summer) (not that I actually throw garden waste away) and because the work I do generates so much paperwork, the green box is way too full and we are expected to put everything recyclable into it. Council has it all backwards IMO. So decided to do my own - all the boxes can be lifted into the car when I drive to town and emptied at the recycling centre in town instead of messing up my house till the bin men see fit to come around and do it for me!

Cant understand how they say they want you to recycle then give you the tiniest receptacle for doing it and thehn tell you to throw all your compostable material into another bin that they dont empty often enough . Are they really taking recycling seriously or what?

    Ruth

Why not get a wormery - they eat all raw kitchen waste - peelings, cardboard egg boxes, dead fruit, and you get lovely compost at the end. They are really quite friendly, don't need putting into a kennel or cattery or looking after if you are away for a two week holiday and although they are pick and slimy they are really quite sweet (to look at not to eat!).

Two stars please Toots, Have done all 3 levels Monday and Tuesday. The kitchen floor was fun back to hands and knees scrubbing it as I couldnt get my mop out of the shed the rain had made it swell, last time I tried to force it open ended up with a frozen shoulder which has just reacuurred this month:(. Put 3 lots of washing on, stripped bed, done some roast veg for freezer and dusted/polished in lounge.
I done everything today as yesterday I was relaxing in town having a facial DH treated me to. Last week he helped me with the lounge and lifted the sofas on their sides and hoovered the sofas underside aswell as their tops.:A
