A friend of ours went to look at the Nissan Pixio and the Nissan salesman kindly told him to go for a Suzuki Alto (same cars, better deals). So he did, and bought one.
    ML.
He who has four and spends five, needs neither purse nor pocket

    Mazda2 50% deposit the remainign 50% on 0% finance over 3 years.
    Would that swing it?
Amounts to a saving over 3 years even if you were planning to pay cash as you can get a bit of interest on you money instead of sinking it in a car.
Starts at over £9K so surely out of budget?

Toyota Yaris appeals because I'm not distracted by the whole accelerator pedal thing so long as Mr Toyota salesman shows me proof the car is unaffected or fixed before I take it away.

Hyundai for the 7 year Warranty and because it's decent but the waiting list needs a bit of patience.

Kia Picanto? Not sure about the looks but there is a 7 year warranty to be had here now too.

Kia Rio looks better and seems to be at the high end of your budget range. 7 year warranty again.

    :o my mistake.
Had it in my head that Kia have recently increased it to 7 years across the range. They did as only some models were 7 and others were 5. Thought Hyundai already there at 7.

No problem, alas you are not having a good day because Kia never were 5, they were either 7 on some models or 3.:D

    All very confusing.. ;)
