I'm sure it will work with a lot of people though - which is the whole point I suspect. Releasing the details in advance also ensures a far bigger audience than would otherwise be the case.

It did in Discussion Time on here. The abuse for those who had the same views as you (including myself) got the thread not only locked, but deleted.

If that thread was an indication of how the use of emotion can get people behind you, then as a country, I think Gordon & Alistair (and anyone else) would do very well to continue down this emotional path.

also so close to the first anniversary of Ivan Cameron's death when the papers will no doubt be talking about it whether David Cameron wants to discuss it or not. This government has form for fighting dirty, spinning and if necessary telling lies to gain popularity (think Damien Mcbride and the smears about Ivan Cameron that were planned).

David Cameron has shown a far more dignified response to his bereavement. I haven't seen any attempt to make political gain from such terrible misfortune and would sincerely hope not to.

I remember when Blair was vying for power and the emotional rhetoric of his speeches. I'm ashamed to say I actually believed he meant and would do what he was saying.

Despite Cameron's opponents trying to compare him, unfavourably, to Blair, I see him as having passion but don't see him as someone who tries to gain support by tugging at our heart strings with unbridled manipulation. Time, of course, will tell.

    .....
  • i hate Brown and his policies. I don't blame him for crying over his daughter's death - although I haven't seen it before now - and will we have Cam doing the same???

I dislike Brown. I support him crying over his daughter. I will still not vote for him.

Clown saw the political benefit for Blair on exploiting the 'people's princess'. He's playing to the same gallery. It's 100% crocodile tears; this is the same man who was happy to send troops to futile deaths as a distraction to see him through a weekend of tricky headlines in the papers

  • My views would be the same if David Cameron did this Stevie.

    I hope he doesn't.

You could simply say that to absolutely everything relating to the labour party.

This is exactly the sort of level the other thread dwindled down to.

I simply implied that you can spot the Tory and of course BNP voters from their replies.

  • Looking at comments on this issue in the papers (even Scottish newspapers where you would expect more Labour voters) a lot of people are suspicious about the timing of this.

I'm afraid the OP's very first half sentence immediately invalidates the rest of his politically-motivated shlock.

The thread is just that - a tendentious swipe desperately seeking the figleaf of a justification.
