3rd card compromised. Dixons, National Express (a prime fraud indicator apparently) and a clothes shop in London. Running further scans on my PC. Ringing the bank and getting our debit cards cancelled.

    Sigh :(

Might be time to get all cards out, and get them all changed.

I had my credit card details stolen a few years back, i put them into a rogue site which i then noticed.

I insisted that the long 16 digit number was changed too on the 2 credit card accounts, not just a re-issue of a card.

Might be worth withdrawing some cash from the ATM before cancelling all the cards, but best to start afresh and go from there...

(I had £2075 stole from me a few years ago, so i had to run with this as i could not tell what info was taken from my wallet, and it was a few months later as you never change your PIN code)

Have transferred a small amount of cash to a (trusted) friend, and cancelled the cards - the bank understands the situation and I hope will deal with it as a fraud risk. But at least the account will run normally, all being well, and they tell me the cards absolutely can't be used anymore.

We haven't found any malware yet so we're working on the rather dubious theory that someone went through our wallets while we were in India.

    Fay,

The reality is that i can take a copy of your card within 2-3 secs of it being in my hands, i can take a picture of both sides with a digital camera and move away.

Then at a later date, i have all the details i need to process an online order.

I guess you carry your driving license in your purse too.?

That would give, place of birth, date of birth, address etc..

Agreed... we're just a bit confused about how someone had the opportunity to do this on 3 cards.

I don't get to say this very often... but I'm glad to be a non-driver!

  • We received a sales receipt in the post for Dixons, with one of the fraudulent transactions on it, (Dell laptop and Nikon camera) and a delivery address.
Egg's fraud dept. don't work at the weekend, and the police will only take instruction from Egg. Meh.

So this means the fraudsters have our address as well.

There's no one there at all at the weekend!!!

At least you have a delivery address to go on now, can you gleam any info about that?

Ah, managed to speak to Egg yesterday so I think it's just the fraud dept. not there, that's what I was told.

The delivery address: it's in London, it's a flat, and the person's name looks fake :p
What's the betting the flat has a sign on the door saying 'please leave parcels downstairs with [insert dodgy shop name here]'
