"the friend who was a size 10 and was constantly on my case for my weight has now shot up in weight and is struggling (i know i shouldnt find this funny but after months of "you cant wear THAT your HUGE - Dont think im going out with you looking like that" etc..." (quote from mommyme post #21)
Hi mommyme,
I'm a little puzzled by your use of the word "friend" for anyone who treats you like this!
A friend's role is to support you and to tell you unpalatable truths if you ask for her opinion.
It's not to put you down, nag you or make you feel bad about yourself.
I think it's pretty sad that she has done this to you and I can understand your feeling quite smug that she is now the one who is struggling. Maybe this will give you an opportunity to point out how unhelpful and unkind she's been...?

Shes one of those friends i dont speak to very often lol She never used to be a cow - she got a new fella and now has a "im better than everyone" attitude (waiting on the bf to be dropped when she comes to her senses lol)0 -
Thanks so much to everyone for the kind responses.
My husband has agreed to have a word with his family. I think part of the problem is that due to the sort of childhood he had he has always been scared of any sort of confrontation. He now realises that the comments are unacceptable and cannot just be ignored.
Thanks for the help.0 -
The only thing I would of said when the sister in law says anything about weight would be, 'If it was that easy, why has it taken you this long?'Oh....I'm not going to lie to you......At the end of the day, when alls said and done......do you know what I mean.........TIDY0
