Just reporting back- Sweetcorn fritters are a favourite now..i would add garlic to them next time. DD declared 11/10. I used up left overs from last night and chucked some carrot in as well.
Carrot cake is a hit too- although they prefer the weetabix cake. I have done the survey..does it automatically publish when i press done?Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

OOh Weezl, i had to have that done as well - it will be fine, you get used to it and i hardly felt a thing. The district nurse came out to me, so that may be an option for you. Now Rest!! xxBlackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

I'll have a go at the chutney and bhaji recipe this week. I make my own veggie pakora a fair bit so will be nice to frugalise it some more
Hope the hospital trips go well weezl! *hugs*Real stupidity beats artificial intelligence every time0 -
Weezl and co: you are doing sterling work, so much so that I have taken the liberty of toasting you  whilst catching up on the last fifteen pages! Get well soon Weezl. xx
Rainbow fruit and veg: I've just been doing a little homework and looks like the America's Phytonutritient Report (based on official survey results, but analysed by a supplements company) has been revised very recently - red deficiency stats have increased and the blue/ purple have dropped. I suspect experts have had them re-categorise a fruit or vegetable, perhaps beetroot which is listed as purple. :j http://www.amway.com/en/nutrition-wellness/nutrilite-experience#/section/phytonutrients/
Saturated, trans & essential fats: Agree with you Weezl, trans fats are the devil's work but saturated fats are fine in moderation, even desirable for growing children and teens. The family will be eating a lot more heart-healthy soluble fibre (oats and pulses) than they are used to! As with the free-range eggs issue, it's down to individuals to swap out the odd ingredient that they won't compromise on. I am a little concerned by the lack of oily fish, but am sure you are addressing the omega-3 requirement eslesewhere.
Veggie/ vegan curries: Speaking as an omnivore who is trying to be meat-free at home, I found my all pulse/ tomato-based curries were missing a 'mouth feel' or flavour. Creamed coconut seems to be the solution, and I think one that might be acceptable to some carnivorous men.
Carbonara: not sure how MSE it is, but tinned evaporated milk makes a very good carbonara in place of cream. If your protein is a bit low or saturated fat a bit high this might be an acceptable addition/ substitution?Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -
Hi i know we are shopping at Asda but Tesco are doing there own value chicken stock cubes at 10p per pack of 10 and 28p per pack for beef ones. Also my tesco have an ethnic aisle and their chick peas are way cheaper than the ones on the shelf in the "normal" section (next aisle). Not to muck up your list weezl but thought people might want a stock cube bargain.0

Also have bought some value Tesco Tea bags today, same price as the Asda one...i am well known for consumption of tea and a bit Typhoo fan. But i quite like them and could happily drink away...so that would have been one of my non compromise things, now i have compromised
Thanks for that BOB i was going to ask somewhere about "value" type teabags as they seem to have shot up in price. If i was spending more than 1p per bag i thought i was rich but now . Usually buy Asdas own not sp as a bit wary but if you think they are ok i will try them but woe betide you if i spend my money and they are not good i will hunt you down and make you drink them all:)0 -
glad weezl is home and that the hospital have things under control.
I've filled out the survey for the carrot cake- very user friendly and simple to use (the survey I mean, not the cake!)
DH would like the onion bhaji recipe, but we seem to be outvoted by the falafels so I'll tell him he'll have to be patient.
had interesting discussion with the girls today about eating the full spectrum of colours. DD1 asked if she picked loads of blackberries this summer does that mean she never has to eat Borscht again! sounds like a deal I thought :rotfl:weaving through the chaos...0 -

I do and i *would* drink them up if you hunted me down:D:rotfl::rotfl:
In fact i would give you the 28p:) well virtually any way:rotfl::rotfl:
DS has had a brew as well and commented how nice it was...don't think you can go for two dips though, but i might try it and see. I do know that in the cafe they are the same ones in the general tea pots...and they charge 70p ish for a tea pot. So if the general masses are drinking them unawares and paying for the privilege then who am i to argue:DBlackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?
