I'm going to explain in the intro to the published planner why I'm happy to include the amount of sugar we are for Bob and shirley.
The others asked me not to address that on here at this stage, so I'm going to go along with that, as the majority view. But I have heard that you disagree with it.
I hope it's ok to leave the discussion there? :T:T:T

morning, is the planner on the first page the finished planner for people to test, or is it going on a new thread, I only ask as i stumbled across this thread within another thread and clicked subscribe and wouldnt know where to find the actual discussion!I dont want to miss any of the plans!
Also, I would like to make the vegetable risotto, would anyone be able to show me where the recipe is please.
Weezl I think you have done a amazing job with the rest of your 'team' managing to get this up and running with a new born baby. I was only capable of the bare minimum!0 -
Thanks Weezl you've given me a very good start to the morning. You definately don't sound how I had in my head, but you sound very lovely indeed, and you and your DH laughing together was very sweet. Have I imagined it or did I read once that you work as a counceller at a university, you definately have the perfect calm friendly voice for it.
The April fools made me want to puke!
Have bought my 4th loaf tin and some oat cereal so I will try out the oaty bread today. I have 3 different size tins so will report if that affects the end product.0 -
Nice one Weezl, I have a little lard left so will try later
Hey, if anyone is going to start the challenge and has a little room in their garden, what about trying one of these? http://www.bbc.co.uk/nature/species/Spaghetti
I mean it seems to be okay in Southern Europe so perhaps worth a shot with a South facing garden?God is good, all the time

Are you insane woman! mmm, I split mine into 16 and it is really really really tasty, I have no idea how you could get that many out of it, well, maybe if it was a bit thinner, but then I don't think it would hold together.
So, I would heartily recommend it to any non-veggiesI would suggest creaming the lard first and then adding the sugar, when you stick your hands in to get it to mix together don't worry about it sticking together, when you get it into the tin you can press it down, I used my knuckles, I think this is pretty essential. It is very crumbly once cooked but is very nice indeed, I wasn't convinced it would bind together and it definitely isn't one to eat on a shag pile carpet without a good hoover but it is lovely
Also just made some scones with lard instead of butter and half water, half milk, will let you know how they go...
Sian, don't you have plates?does the mix need more wetness? a tablespoon of water? I'll keep my thinking hat on... would 25 biccies have been very weeny? Oh dear!
I am interested in the scones, my fear is that without any sort of spread no-one will want to eat them! The spreads we have are used up in the breakfasts sadly
I could do savoury scones with chutney as a replacement lunch, but I fear it'd be pricier than the thing it would replace IYSWIM? xxx

we had the breakfast pancakes, pea soup for lunch, followed by hm fruit cake which wasnt on the list! and the best bit of all was weezls homemade chutney, with the most delicious sweetcorn fritters and jacket potatoes. we mixed up the fritters as directed, but instead of frying them, oiled a baking tray, used a cookie cutter and filled to make burger shapes, then baked in the oven for 10 minutes, flipped over and then baked for another 10 minutes. Best tea I have had in ages, and all vegan!
Thankyou!
Yay I'm so pleased :T:T:T:Tfrugalmumof4 wrote: »morning, is the planner on the first page the finished planner for people to test, or is it going on a new thread, I only ask as i stumbled across this thread within another thread and clicked subscribe and wouldnt know where to find the actual discussion!I dont want to miss any of the plans!

Ah! sadly that is quite an out of date planner:o, I shall delete it. I've been focussing more on the meat containing planner at the mo, by popular demand, so I'd like to finish that off first, but I do still need testers of all the vegan things if you're willing. In particular, I'd love it if you could have a go at sian's second onion tart and the tangy bean pate, and the rissoles, they are all vegan and very frugal like your username
PS no! tis you that are superwoman, because I only have 2 babies

Well Weezl I have to say the oaty bread is surprisingly nice. I was looking at it somewhat suspiciously as I have to say it didn't look particularly appetising but the taste is really nice and the texture is a lot better than expected.
DP is bemoaning the fact the I have used the last of his hot oat cereal but looks forward to trying the bread and even commented that it would be very healthy with hot oat cereal in it - breakthrough!!!!Sealed pot member 735

Ha, have I not explained before how much I dislike washing up?I think it would be possible to get more out of it, it is quite hard to cut when hot but when cooler the pieces would have been fine a bit smaller.
Scones, well, I made 21 last night, this morning, less than 12 hours later there are 8 left in the box, my housemates have been nicking them all! I flavoured them with salt and pepper and some garam masala and some chilli pepper we have (though this would not be essential) and they were made with lard and half milk half water so pretty frugal, I was imagining them as a snack rather than a meal, like the chick pea bites. I really don't think they need to have spread on them, they are delishAm I convincing you yet?

weezl You know before I looked at the link, I was thinking 'its worth a try, may not be so bad, though I think the whisking might be tricky'
It's amazing what you start to think could be edible...;)0
