We have a huge dilemma here regarding tea. We only buy fair trade and drink about 6 pots a day:eek:
I am about to go out again but wanted to say we still want to try the £100 a month menu. I know we can't drink Tesco value tea bags but if we could find our own bargain somewhere would that be acceptable? There are usually at least 5 adults here each day drinking tea each day, sometimes more. Maybe I could have a seperate budget for tea and milk for the workers during the day? Just thinking out loud.....
As a supporter of fair trade too, I thought you might like to know that sainsburys basic tea that is 28p is fairtrade! I don't know what its like, since I have never drunk tea, but thought i'd let you know. I found out when they was discussing fairtrade savings in the os section!

Hi evryone how are you all?
Just to let you know i do buy/drink the sainsburys fairtrade 28p teabags and i think it makes a nice cup of tea. Considering i was a yorkshire tea lass i have now changed my ways.
That's why i think asda is expensive, i would seriously spend a fortune in there just on tea alone
.
Oh and they do work really well 2 tea bags make a strong pot of tea, even my dad thinks its nice, but he doesn't know it cheap tea
.
Its also one of the ways i keep to my morals regarding fairtrade products.0 -
in haste as just home and need to research the next blanket!
Arty I have a supa dupa blender but rarely use it due to the faff of washing it up. I also have one like this;
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Breville-VHB012-White-Hand-Blender/dp/B001DH61UW/ref=sr_1_14?ie=UTF8&s=kitchen&qid=1269890660&sr=1-14
which I use all the time. I did a uick search for cheapies and suspect with more reserch you could get it cheaper - I got mine at argos but its now 48!!!! The linky above is the same equip but different name! If I had to keep one kitchen set (seriously considered when sitation v dire!) this would be it - got all you need for soups, whisking and chopping on a smallish scale (just do it twice for more food lol!)...would say I did have a plastic stick one but it melted so personal choice would be for metal stick...hth?
lol re the what do we look/aound like!! People always get me very wrong when they meet me - and on phone - partly due to voice sounding definately English (with odd welsh expression thrown in isnt it!)! Weezl has like me I think, a mix of accents/expressions from being in various places but generally wouldnt be known as from Cardiff ...I would say she is well spoken but not posh...Would like to meet people but as weezl wil verify its quite nerve racking! A bit like a first date without the snogging lol!!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Even in the darkest moments, love and hope are always possible.0 -
Well we had the falafel today and everyone thought they were lovely. DS2 (aged 6) wolfed four down by himself. DS1 (aged 9) said they were nice. OH just ransacked them before they could cool down. they were very filling along with salad and HM buns.
Chana mutter masala :-
DS1: - 7/10
OH - "more of a stew than a curry", but he gave it 6/10
DS2 5/10 - "wheres the spice?" (his words not mine!)
Me: - nice and savoury, could do with more spice to make it more like a curry.
hope the above is okay

thank you so much for your PMd thoughts about the leftovers
I think your ideas are superb, thank you so much, and you've done lots of MSE trawling too, which must've taken quite some time
The only thing I think it might be better not to include for shirley is what to do with leftover wine, as it may remind her of things she can't have!
Also, if you don't mind, I wonder if we can add to it as our testers run with the first month, so we can see what things actually DO crop up as leftovers and what our lovely creative testers do with them
These can then be example ideas which may inspire shirley
How would you feel about posting it here so others can have a lookie too?

For planner specific left overs, I have so far discovered that the stuffing is even better the next day and makes a filling lunch on its own ( microwaved ) or with any left over veg/gravy.
The sweetcorn fritters are also ok the next day, but loose a bit in texture in the micro. They are some thing we are happy to snack on or have for lunch.
Oh, and any spare apple curd can be spread onto a rolled out piece of bread/pizza dough, rolled up like a swiss roll and sliced before proving and baking. Yummy appley roll type thingies
HTH
Thanks Weezl
Happy to be of use at last!
If you are happy with it then I'm happy to post it for everyone to see (minus the wine tip, obviously :rotfl:). Do you want me to post it or will you?
Also, Queen of String has just posted some great tips specific to the planner (see above). Should these be added onto the list now?
I enjoyed compiling it and would definitely like to help out with some of the other bits on the to-do list as well
