thank you ISOM! No need to keep up!
LOL at the McDonalds thingie, I was quite pleased thinking, 'well people will pay £1.25 for those, so that's quite good since ours are cheap as chips' :rotfl:

Well - you can try out another little recipe or two for us ISOM if you feel so moved:D
I was hoping to have a go at another one tonight - but I am so shattered after today (t'stuff I mentioned in my P.M. to you earlier;)) - that I've just stuffed whatever I could down my face to fill my stomach and am already looking longingly at my bed..... ...nice comfortable mattress.... ...nice fluffy duvet......0 -
Well the apple curd is in the jars. I pureed the hell out of it with the hand blender (having first mashed it with the masher) and it was really really well cooked but the hand blender nearly died with the effort. I have tasted some and it is delicious but even though it looks smooth there are still choky little bits of skin and hard stringy bits of core in it. I am hoping that, like Lesley did, I will find that they have gone away by morning. I would definitely make again but it remains to be seen whether I would peel and core the apples first.Sealed pot member 735

Howlin with regards to your note for Shirley regarding white sauce i wonder if it would be worth mentioning to her to make a bigger batch of roux (without liquid) and keep the rest in the fridge to be added as and when required to thicken up soups etc. The mixture will keep for several weeks so Shirl would only have to make it once in a while. Just a thought HTH xx0

I definitely liked the taste/texture of them- but agree with the suggestion of calling them patties
(although in Orkney a patty is mince n tatties flattened out, covered in batter, and deep fried!).
I also wondered about sweet potato in there, however that would put the cost way up I imagine! Actually weezl's recipe is a very good base point, and if couple are feeling flush, they could put something fancier in it- if not then they are decent enough as is

I think the tomato dahl can feature on the veggie planner, do you think it's a good addition?
murrell this was our pea mash, you can also add some oil for mouth feel if you like
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction for the pea mash, now saved for later, when I buy the peas.
I think the tomato dahl would be a good addition, although I don't think I have tried it myself, but I do have it saved from the 50p challenge, so I may of. And the lentil pate that lesley just mentioned. Have made this several times and love it.
Made the falafels but my processor just wouldn't shift the mixture, so I addded a few drops of water and ended up making it too sloppy! I had to bake them, as they were sloppy and although they will get eaten (made 22 in total), they didn't taste like falafels usually taste, not spicy enough. I used 390g of cooked chickpeas, as its what I converted 260g of dried to be, this could be where I went wrong, don't know. I was a taste tester for cauldron falefels last year, so I have tasted plenty, but these just didn't seem right. I think its the chickpea weight that i've gone wrong on. I used two cloves of garlic, as I don't have the paste, so I don't know if the paste is stronger,as these are not garlicy. I also used red onion, perhaps I should of used yellow. Not had the best cooking day! I also made houmous that wasn't brilliant, although thats because I didn't use a recipe and was making sun dried tomato version and also tabouleh, that i added too much lemon too, as I used bottled and didn't know how much equalled a lemon! So I didn't dare try to make flatbread which was my intention. Still tomorrow should be a better cooking day!
