Ok thank you-I think I am being snobby lol. I was a vegetarian for ten years up to a year ago so can be a bit funny with these things.
No worries Weezl I like a bit of research to get my teeth into (oh god im such a geek lol)

I would add though that we always drain the fat off after frying it because quite a bit does come out of it. Other than that its fine and we always bulk it out with oats, carrot and lentils and he has no complaints
oh that's interesting pinkhayley:), do you use the frozen one or the fresh one as a matter of interest? I find the asda frozen one greasier, but not sure why? xxSian_the_Green wrote: »ooh, hello, just got on here after a busy day. I made a costume as a present for a friend, some of the cereal bars (very nice, thanks!), 2 choc cakes and some crazy whipped up icing that required a sugar thermometer.
I would love to have a go tomorrow. Do I need to go get that particular oil or can I try with veg oil for now? Had a lot of success with my choc cake today by subbing yogurt and oil in with a bit of marge so more than happy to experiment, my housemate got more oil and raisins for me on purpose as the cake was so popular
I think most veg oil contains a very high percentage of flaxseed oil so it will be a fair comparison Sian, thanksYou also may want to check out the oozy topping I made today inspired by you! I did it with oil, sugar, powdered milk and orange juice, it's on me blog under egg free carrot cake, but do do your own thing cos then we have more options to choose from for bob and shirl

2250ml of rapeseed oil used raw would appear to yield the whole family's Omega 3 for the month. But that seems really different from Firefox's maths so I wonder if somebody who likes researching (artybear, HGL, avocet) could check out my logic?
it was this post artyRDA of Omega 3 sourced wikipedia
% of n-3 oils in Canola(rapeseed oil) sourced USDA database for nutrients
conversion rate of 80g oil = 100ml of oil.
and that one
Shout if you need any more info it was making my head fry and seemed too good to be true so I thought I'd check

We always buy the fresh one because my OH thought the frozen one was even more greasy in comparison. We do still drain the fat off the fresh mince but this of course, may be my OH being particularly picky! I guess it's down to individual preference really isn't it? I just go along with it because at least he eats it this way and doesn't turn his nose up in favour of the Extra Special varietyMoney paid out from Topcashback so far= £105.89 :j

MMMMMMMMMMMMmmmm.........the lasagne looks yummy-the only issue I have is smartprice mince.
I have never bought this-am I being snobby?
Not necessarily on topic but I do try and be 'green' when it comes to meat-dont really know what I'm asking but any info would be useful if you have time Weezlie.
artybearXXXXXXX
I buy meat from my local butcher and it often works out cheaper than the smartprice or value mince. He never has any fat on his mince which is why it works out cheaper, ie no wastage. He also has kept his prices the same for about 10 years. I know we are very lucky but if Shirl and Bob had the time to shop around they could probably be able to do the same as me. I believe that one of the constraints is that they both work full time so don't have the time to spend finding bargain, ethical foods.business mortgage £0))''(+ Barclay's business kitchen loan £0=Total paid off was £96105 PPI claimed and received £13527

Hello.........two glasses of vino in and I feel SOOO much better lol!!
Ok Weezl-that is a head spinner, I am on the case but am going to have to ask my OH for help-he is a physics post grad and is better at numbers than me-hope you dont mind. Give me an hour or so and I will have my findings back to you.
I was thinking about you today as a lady I work with went on Maternity leave, we bought her a prezzie and she was really surprised as it is her second child. I think any babies deserve prezzies and I hope people are spoiling you with KesterXXXXXXXIn art as in love, instinct is enough

hiya, and welcome! we're more at a testing things out phase really, just seeing if the recipes are any good:)
as for a march edition, I'm probably going to disappear off for a little bit around then (see sig) but I hope all the other fab ideas from everyone else will keep flowing!

unheated oil possible uses so far:
70 ml in carrot cake topping = 280 ml in the month
120 in 2 batches of peanut butter
400 total
plus use as dressing in allegra's potato salad, 15ml per person in 6 meals, a further 360
total 760
how much was in the bean pate?
Ok that's a further 80, so 840.
Still a long way to go, even if arty and mr arty agree with my dodgy maths
