Sorry Weezlie, Seems that the omega-3 breaks down at any temp from what I can find.

» Although rapeseed oil is a good source of omega 3 fatty acids, it should not be heated and preferably only used as cold-pressed. Both essential fatty acids can easily generate free radicals once they are subjected to heat, light and oxygen. For cooking it is better to use oils high in mono-unsaturated fats such as olive or groundnut. For the same reasons flaxseed oil is best purchased in dark bottles and stored away from heat or light.

Taka said what I was trying to say!
I think that as the original meal plan stood, it would capture more people.
For one month then it wouldn't harm them. We could put an aside to this to point out that it is lacking on ******* nutrients and where they could get these from.
Weezl, you rightly pointed out that you can get calcium from water. I didn't know this until you discovered this way back when but I had still forgotten it. Maybe this is why we are encouraged to drink 8 glasses water per day?!

I think that this is a great idea and I *think* I can see why you don't want to break the £100 per month barrier. Lets hope we get there in the end!

Maybe when Shirley persuades Bob to have the extra baby for the roast chicken, she could start up a little dairy. IIRC you don't stop producing milk until the demand for it has gone!

  • i'm still here weezl, been reading and pondering

personally i'd take the tea and milk for tea out of the budget, concentrate on the food side (mainly because i drink about 10 cuppa's a day and could not cope with cutting back to just 4!!)

i think this is a great idea and needs to be #tweaked# back towards the original ideal a bit, so maybe a little more meat and possibly lose the colours, as imho i manage okay without rainbow food (i normally have a lot of green, some yellow, brown, orange and red, with a dash of purple thrown in every so often)

i'll go back thro recipe cal later, still not having great fun with the website so if it keeps up i'll email them :)

ttfn and remember, none of us would have come up with this and we are all very honoured you have decided to share this with us, it's a journey i'm really enjoying :)

  • I for one love this thread.

Just putting my meagre tuppence worth in- I agree with the other posters that the thread should not go. I think i have mentioned it before, but i and lots of other posters will take away a basic plan and tweak it to suit their circumstances. And i know that this will include all the nutritional advice.

Your original post was a thought process about giving them the tools and means to do the job:D

What he or she will do with those tools, then becomes a little bit like a good book.Once it is written the reader will then interpret it how he or she sees it.

    Does that make sense?

I might also add i am ingesting all this advice slowly and Rome wasn't built in a day-( i do like my metaphors) give it time and thought as to the further direction, but in all honesty i feel it is quite self evolving at the moment due to the interesting questions that will undoubtedly arise.
Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

I want the process to continue, this is more about me loving the thread and feeling part of something though I think but I think it can help people too.

I think we have to admit Shirley and Bob are not perfect nor will they ever be-for me, especially, it riles me that ''Bob'' does not cook, demands meat and potentially eats all the food. This is because I do not accept men like this and my relationship is very different.

Ceridwen probably feels that Bob and Shirl are silly as they are not
buying free range eggs and so on, others may not understand why baking bread may be a hardship (or powdered milk)each of us have out own standards of what is and isn't acceptable.

So, maybe, Weezl your hang up is that you want them to have the perfectly healthy diet you know that you can give them....however I don't think that may be possible as they still will want their treats and meat (grrr) and eggs!!

So a compromise may be in order.....I think we can do this for £100, I really do!!!!! But in reality the plan may not have all the omega 3 or calcium or sodium or other random nutrient that the government recommends. I have a good diet and theres no way I do, but its still healthy!!!

So maybe we should expect Bob and Shirl and the gang to have a healthy diet...just not THE perfect diet! As I don't think there is anyone of this thread who has said yet-''yes I have the best diet possible''. So if we cant do it-why are we expecting them to?

I have had vino so apologies of that is really silly
