ok please help if you can ,im unemployed made redundant 6 months ago , trying hard to find a job even went as far as gaining a little extra to my bow by getting a sia licence hoping to find a job, well its the old crux now my job seekers allowance has run out and i find all i get now is my NI stamp paid and i sign on for that every 2 weeks, my partner works 35hours a week and P/A is no more than £12,100.how the heck with everything else to run house bills car etc, which ive just sold ! do they want you to survive in this modern age , once you loose your job folks remember this and remember hard your only one step away from the GUTTER.It also seems to me once you get to this stage you become a burden to the system and they try there hardest to make you disappear from there paperwork at the jobcenters , with this in mind i would call this creative jobless accounting to make this seem theres less people unemployed than there really is !!

You should be entitled to WTC. The OS board has some great money saving ideas.

    Good luck

Unfortunately benefits are not supposed to be sufficient for luxuries such as running a car. Complete one of these and post on the Debt-free Wannabe board for comments:

Do you live in the real world??? My total take home pay is £1000 a month, and I do not claim any benefits at all, the only help I get is the standard 25% ded of Council tax as I live on my own. This income is the highest it has ever been. I have a full time job and 3 part time ones. I run my house, brand new car, animals and have a holiday on this and afford (in my opinion) lots of luxuries, and am at present £2400 in debt from several years ago which is going down £100 per month!! Please dont say people cannot live on £20,000 a year.......that statement is laughable! :rotfl:
Debt free = December 2010...as of March 2006 it is now January 2010..... as of December 2008 it is now December 2009 :j hopefully sooner!!
:jDEBT FREE:j January 2012, took longer but I got there, all by myself, through sheer hard work and pride!

I think you should give lessons on budgeting and money management, I couldn't afford all that on £1000 a month. Rent alone were I single would be £500 a month where I live.:)

I guess my mum brought me up well and I struck out on my own at a very early age so I know the importance of keeping the roof over my head, everything else comes second. It has been hard as I have had extended periods of time off work for health reasons over the years but touch wood I manage to keep it all together! LOL

Unfortunately most working people don't have insurance or a savings cushion to help them through the tough times. My way has always been never to comit to anything I can't afford on basic pay save for luxuries and have insurance to protect what I can't live without, mortgage etc. I pay a fortune is Tax and NI and like the OP I would only get 26 weeks JSA and then nothing, I think I pay in less than 2 months what I would get if the worst happened, it seems unfair I agree.
