how much control can you get over someone elses computer from these programs?
my father-in-law is always stuffing up his pc, so these would be good for me to help him out.
I'm on the other side of the world and find it difficult explaining what to do over the phone.

If you didn't want to take complete control what we do with my mum is to screen share over Skype which is free....

She still has to do itself but we can watch what she is doing and tell her where she is going wrong....Also by doing it that way she does eventually get the hang of it...

how do you invite another person using this logmein program ? I cant find anywhere where you can invite someone to access your pc ????

edit > ok I found it now....but......it says in the FAQ's that in order to create users you must have LogMein Central...which is $376 per year. having loaded the free LogMein you only get a trial for the central prog which you need to add users !

All i do to have access to another pc is to download the program to that pc and then away i go,
  • i have used almost all the available remote desktopping software out there and i would plump for logmein simply because it is free and it doesnt bombard you with adverts, live mesh is good too but imo its a bit choppy, especially over a slow line.

failing that i generally try to set up remote desktop and connect with mstsc (or remote desktop connection)
