So, if plusnet website recognised my phone number when i typed it in, that means I could change to them without having to go to BT?
It says I can get 5mb speed which seems to be about the going rate in this area, luckily I dont use gaming or music downloads.0 -
It would indicate that you're already on a BT network phone, not LLU.
10GB limit might not be an issue for you then.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Back again after ringing the ever so helpful staff at talk talk on friday evening.
I told them I was totally dissatisfied with their service and wanted to cancel the whole lot. I have now been told I can't cancel because they can't cancel something I haven't got - eg the internet.
The reason I want to cancel is exactly that. I asked them for the new date I would go live and they told me it would be this morning, guaranteed. I asked them several times to confirm that and they said without a doubt that my internet would be up and running by this morning. I told them if it wasn't that I would be cancelling and they just kept saying it would be on.
Surprise, surprise, still no internet.
So I have had enough of this bunch of amateurs and want to leave and join plusnet.
Any suggestions the best way forward?
Thank you.0 -

Wait until mid-day? Did you tell them that you will consider them in breach of contract if this date is broken? No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Hi macman
I just phoned TT and told them I was cancelling and when they looked at the records of calls made to them about it, they admitted I'd had a really poor service.
I said they'd have to send me a prepaid label if they want the router back.
I just signed up to Plusnet so hopefully better luck with them.
Thank you for all your advice, I wouldnt have known about Plusnet if you hadn't put that link on earlier on the thread.
Do you happen to know an address for a complaints department at Talk Talk? I might just write in and see if I can get any of my £60 connection fee back. I tried to ask them but was cut off.

Did they agree to let you go though? Otherwise you will be getting a cancellation invoice from them.
Have you not asked them for a MAC?No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
hi
the man I spoke to said I could cancel at anytime, don't know if this was in view of the appalling service I received, they did seem to have a record of the calls I've been making.
He just said contact a new provider and they will make the transfer.
Apparently on the plusnet website TalkTalk were one of the providers that you dont need to get a mac code from, there was a list of ISP's showing which ones you need mac codes from and which you don't.0 -

Knowing TT I would want them to confirm I can cancel without being charged an early termination fee. But it's up to you.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Good idea, I think I will write to them and explain the whole situation and send it registered post.0
