can i ask in your auction did you say you would accept returns of goods
let me explain a little on this so it could help in future
if i placed a playstation 3 for example on ebay, i would not accept returns, this stops ebay from getting dogey buyers getting the sale then week later trolling the ebay system and asking you for a refund, it makes paypalrisk a lot less because paypal will ask if you want to refund this person which you can decline or accept and sort out a refund if it goes into a dispute,
what you need to do in future if you trade on ebay is what i do and not a lot of people do this, get a video on you tube from cam phone ect, of the item working and in fully order, that way when you have issues on paypal you can send them the link to view the product is working well,
also make sure in the description on the auction you placed "sold as seen" i will not accept returns and make sure you do not sell to anyone on ebay without feedback over 10+ that way your getting rid of the spammers and scammers and it helps you build your feedback quicker (i.e best communaticion, fast sales stars on ebay)
what i suggest is with this customer is ask him before you issue a refund to place up a video of the item not working on you tube, usally 9/10 times they will back down if that dont work then ask him to return the item and then get it fixed and add the charge for sales to the price you are looking for, and so as i said above,
hope that helps

'No returns' is a meaningless term, if an item is faulty and paypal agrees then you can say what you want in your auction and paypal will still expect you to refund. As for videos of the itme working, forget it, paypal don't care and they won't be looking at video clips to make a decision.
Sold as seen also a term to avoid, when exactly has buyer 'seen ' and inspected the goods, that is a term used in real bricks and mortar auction houses. You also can't stop people with less than 10 feedback bidding unless you sit with your finger over the bidding page at last minute and try and beat the snipe bids as they come in.
It really does pay to try and avoid certain statements in your auction that might mark you out as a new or naive seller as you may well then be targetted by scammers. Keep your terms simple and basic, leave out nonsense and it makes you look professional and may put off people who are out to scam.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. With all respects to your comments i had been trading on ebay since 2003 and this is points from the main ebay community boards from power-sellers alike who agree that to have the rules in the auction, There are still around alot of tirekickers and scammers who unfortunatey have ebay at a advantage,
My point is entireley to my last comment is you dont have to put sold as seen i just used that words to show a example,
As for the video clips and paypal, well they say every bit of evidence is strength, okay it may work it may not work, but ask your self why on ebay do big businesses use video deciriptions on some ebay stores of there items they are selling, because it shows your customer your a real trader not a spammer, i have seen so many thanks from customers off amazon because of using video for decription based,
paypal award on the basis of merit (what the goods are that have been sold for example if i sold i ebook and someone ask for refund id refund them stright away because paypal sees non postal goods as tangable goods)
But dont forget every account that paypal have they have bevaviorial analystic infomation on ebay buyers who just buy something rant rave then ask for refund to define the buyers responces,
so how can it put people off?? they see the product they buy the product,
and by the way i asked paypal, I did before i wrote this,
thanks for your comments"MSE Money saving challenges..8/12/13 3,500 saved so far :j" p.s if i been helpfully please leave me a thank you but seek official advice at all times from a pro0 -

Whilst ebooks may be allowed on other auction sites they are not actually allowed to be sold on ebay and despite your selling history you might want to update your information and selling practices.
http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/sell/selling-digital-items.html
A digital item is a computer file or special information that you can access online or have delivered electronically. Digitally delivered goods and items which are transferred electronically are not permitted on eBay. Some examples of digital items are:- Electronic books or ebooks
- Digital pictures
- Other electronic documents
and by the way i asked paypal, I did before i wrote this,
Goodness, I assume that is the same paypal who when sent any email with the question 'is this a spoof' actually say yes, regardless if the email is from them or not.
Incidentally I didn't ask either ebay or paypal's permission to write this, I actually prefer to check their terms and conditions as they often don't understand them themselves.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. You're situation is different.
Buyer will raise a dispute 'item not received'; you cannot prove that it was so you have to refund the buyer and claim off Royal Mail (assuming you got a proof of postage certificate) but you won't get the full £60 back.Mortgage start September 2015 £90000 MFiT #060 -

I'm sorry but a phone normal mail with no proof of postage?
All standard mail except for certain items like cash or tickets is covered for loss up to £39, but you must get a free certificate of postage from the PO when you send your item. Anything over £39 must go special delivery.
You must have had an idea or a plan B in case item was lost by Royal mail, you surely can't have just bunged it in the post, can you? I know thta many of us use Royal Mail every day so may understand the requirements a bit better, but you are awfully trusting, I wouldn't even post a £3 item without proof of postage
Obviously if this was an ebay and paypal item then they'll refund regardless of your views and paypal will chase you for the money. I'm sure you don't want to use ebay anymore, which is lucky as of course you can't now without a paypal account and if you use your current one they will just take the money to cover your debt and save themselves having to engage debt collectors to chase you (which you also pay for). It is hard enough sometimes to stay one step ahead of scammers and victims of Royal mail losses en route, but why trade without taking the most basic of precautions?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. That's complete b*llocks! Do a search for "ebook" on ebay and you'll get around 4,250 results.Digitally delivered goods and items which are transferred electronically are not permitted on eBay. Some examples of digital items are:- Electronic books or ebooks
Digitally delivered and electronically transferred files are not allowed. But stick those files on a CD, DVD, USB stick etc. and you can sell them on ebay.
It's digital delivery that is banned, not digital files.0 -
