Best way to get to Valencia.

Hey. I had a quick check on Skyscanner, and it appears there are no direct flights from North-West airports (UK) to Valencia (Spain). Surely this can't be true, can it? Ideally I don't really want to be changing planes in Paris (Air France) for what should normally be a 2 hour journey (more or less).
Does anyone have any advice on the best way to get there. Maybe by flying to another location and taking the bus/train? Thanks.

Bus to station then train from Alicante for around 50 Euros return. Takes 90-120 mins on the train + bus times so not that quick0

You can fly to Reus using Ryanair and it is about a 2hr drive, or a train journey to Valencia.
I think that Jet2 from Leeds Bradford fly to Valencia.

Thanks. So I guess I have to work out which is best, adding extra hours to the journey before (travelling to a non North-West airport), or after the flight (flying to another location in Spain). What would others prefer to do in the same situation?Instigated terrorism the road to dictatorship.0

it would depend on the length of journey and when it was to be taken. I wouldn't fancy having to get up at 4 am to travel to east midlands if the alternative was 2 hours closer but equally i wouldn't fancy trying to find my way to where I'm going to at 10 o'clock at night in spain although if you're hopping into a taxi at the other end this wouldn't matter.0

Hi. Is there a station at East Midlands Airport? A quick search on Thetrainline is giving me 'no such station'.

It isn't at the EM Airport, it is about 3 miles away.

More info and a link to the rail link bus service http://www.eastmidlandsairport.com/emaweb.nsf/Content/TrainPosts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

There is no rail station at EMA.
It is the station that serves EMA though and there is a regular bus service from the train station to the airport as richardw points out.
From the East Midlands Trains website..........
East Midlands Airport
Conveniently placed between Nottingham, Leicester and Derby in the heart of the UK, East Midlands Airport can be reached more easily than ever from all over the region. Passengers travelling to East Midlands Airport by train can do so quickly and effortlessly from East Midlands Parkway via the Railink bus, whisking you from the train station to the airport in 10-15 minutes, or via Skylink buses at Nottingham, Derby and Loughborough train stations:- Passengers travelling to and from the east of the country (Grantham, Lincoln, Newark, Peterborough and Mansfield) can connect at Nottingham train station using the Nottingham Skylink bus or East Midlands Parkway using the Railink bus
- Passengers travelling to and from the north and west of the country (Sheffield, Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham and York) can connect at Derby train station using the Derby Skylink bus
- Passengers travelling to and from the south of the country (Northampton, Luton and London) can connect at Loughborough train station using the Loughborough Skylink bus or East Midlands Parkway using the Railink bus.
