  • You have seen many times when you create a new account on yahoo, google or some other websites. It is really hard to read their image security code. Why do they do that and also they will add upper case and lower case.

They never thought about we would struggle to repeat the same word. If you give a simple image with few clear letters, is that not enough .

Here's a simple message with few clear letters for you, truthman.

    Is that enough?

  • There was a trial I heard of a while back of using pictures of common objects and you had to enter the name of the object.
The idea being as humans a picture of a cat is easy to recognise but hard for a computer to do.
The only problem is people can't spell and they would have to have the word "cat" in hundreds of different languages for the various world wide sites.

It is sometimes hard to read the letters so I just keep refreshing the page until I get letters I can read.

To be honest, while I don't think it's worth making a thread about, and while I understand why they have to be as they are, I've had trouble with them as well. Yes, they're only basic words, or letter combinations, but I have trouble with contrast and colours (photoscopia). Yes, you can click and have an audio read out, but that's often distorted as well as fairly fast in most cases (I assume to avoid voice recognition) and honestly, sometimes it's a bit of a pest.

It's amazing how those with a can-do attitude and willingness to 'pitch in and work' get all the luck, isn't it?

I just wish there was something that would stop truthman007....that would be a really good thing indeed!
Maybe we can start writing in invisible ink? If Truthman can't manage to work out these security images, he probably won't be able to work this out...
