the key might look smal put txting emailing ect is fine even with my big fingers
there or their, one day i might us the right one ,until then tuff

  • I can put your mind at rest, I have a BB 8900 and find typing incredibly fast and easy, even though my hands and fingers are on the large side(Weding ring size Z+++). Out of the two phones by far the better one is the 9700. Typing this on my 8900.
  • I prefer BlackBerry. I had the Pearl 8100 and now have the Curve 8900. I find it much easier to use than an ordinary phone. I'm so used to the qwerty keyboard and I have quite big fingers!!

Will be getting buying the Bold 9700 and going to an O2 simplicity rolling contract when mine is due in June. As you said the browser is nothing special but I don't browse on my phone. I use email more than text so it's ideal with push email.

2 months now and i still cant send a bussines card to others! text and email is fine , i d never think it matches nokia for easiyness to use..... i could type as i was running or working on the e71 and not a single mistake

on the blackberry you need to study...... hard! and forget about help on the stores- they know no thing... every time i went there i was told''' oo god, your phone is soo dusty and dirty.. its because of that''

the problem was that i was pressing a button without noticing it and the note came on screen, disabling everything '''ENTER STANDBY MODE''

three, carephone warehouse, phones for you all said'' its an error and cant be rectified, send it back to where you bought it.!
  • Head on over to the crackberry forums where there are specific forums for all the BB phones, there is nothing that you won't find the answer to over there concerning BB's.
  • Go to http://www.crachberry.com for everything about BlackBerry. There are forums for all BlackBerry phones. And how to update your software. I'm running OS 5.0.0.411 on my Curve and it hasn't been released yet for my service provider.

Radsteral, you're correct the stores know nothing about them.

Lufcgirl, you will also get "Docs To Go" which is a basic office suite and they say to use the all functions you have to buy the full version, but all you do is send yourself a blank document.

What I need to know is what it's like switching from a regular phone to a Blackberry with ease of use etc? I know the internet browser isn't too good so will continue to use the iPhone for that. I send a ridiculous amount of texts too, so how easy is it to text? I've noticed the keys aren't spaced very far apart either which worries me.

The BB 8900 is much easier to type on than the 3GS as it has a physical keyboard rather than just a silly "virtual" keyboard, and also you don't loose half the screen the moment you start typing!

As for the browser, the BB branded browser is pretty useless so I use Opera mini 4.2 instead as this will work properly on javascript sites.

Having said that, there are quite a lot of things that irritate me with the BB, and lack of a proper imap client is one of them. Logicmail sort of works, but will not handle attachements. I'm thinking of moving to the Nokia N900 which seems to offer so much more than the BB.
  • I had an iphone for 2 weeks to test it out during the 14 day cool off period - I took it back as I just couldn't get used to the touch screen when typing. I switched to the Blackberry 8520 which I've had for 6 months now but totally regret my decision - the Ipod was way more fun, the internet on the bb is rubbish in comparison and I would just have to get used to the touch screen. Plus the speaker broke on the bb within 2 months and because I got it at Phones4U they send it away but you don't get a replacement handset in the meantime.

The only other thing I didnt like about the iphone was its weight, the bb is much lighter. So I'm looking forward to seeing the iphone 4 when it's announced in June time - I hope it's smaller and lighter than the current model!
  • You will find it will take some getting used to so take your time to set it up and you BIS then you will wonder how you managed without it. I had a Pearl 8100 and now Curve 8900 now I don't know what I will do without my BlackBerry!!

Any problems either post on here or pm me.
