...I was wondering, I'd like to keep my surname if I get married. Does that mean I can only change my title to Ms. or can I be Mrs.? Do I stay as Miss?
Help me out, I'm confused

My missus kept her surname after marriage and changed her title to Ms.0

I kept my name when I got divorced so that I'd still have the same name as my son. I'm getting married again this year and am keeping my old married name for the same reason.******** Never be a spectator of unfairness or stupidity *******"Always be calm and polite, and have the materials to make a bomb"0

I haven't changed my surname, one of my conditions for gettting marriage as I don't like his! If I have to put a title I put 'Ms' otherwise just use my initials. Really pees me off when people call me by his name not mine.0

If you like your name and want to keep it, would your OH consider going against tradition and changing his surname to yours, so you become Mr and Mrs cool indian surname?0

Just out of interest why do you want to keep your name and not change? If my missus even suggested keeping her name after marriage I'd not be happy.
Why???
When me and my partner get married he will be taking my surname, as we have children together who have my surname and it would be just easier all round if he swaps his.
I will also be using mrs too but i dont suppose it really matters if you go by Mrs Ms or Miss,There's this place in me where your fingerprints still rest, your kisses still linger, and your whispers softly echo. It's the place where a part of you will forever be a part of me.

Csh, when I say I might be, I've been with the bloke for 6 years and my opinion on my name has never changed throughout.
Might just be the way I am but I am soooo proud of my name. It's different and it's part of who I am.... Luckily I've found someone who doesn't mind!!
Double barrelling would be ridiculous in my circumstances as my surname is Indian and his is 100% English... would sound so silly! Well, it does to me
Anyway... Mrs or Ms?!?!?!
I'm sure Mrs means 'wife of' so if you were Mrs Maiden Name that would be weird!
I'd go for Ms, I've had a quick goggle and look on wikipedia and there doesn't seem to be a set title so whatever you want really!
If you have children, whose name will they take?0 -
well, if you arent taking his surname - bit of a cheek to call yourself Mrs isnt it? unless he is taking your surname - which isnt unknown to happen.
for professional reasons (as in your maiden name on certificates etc usually its DR or Professor)
I would suggest Ms it keeps people guessing and you can use whichever name you want.
or - use both surnames as others have suggested - hyphenate them.0 -
I just read this post out and he said 'I see no reason not to'!!!!!:eek::eek::eek: I never thought of doing that before.... but he'd have to change by deed poll, yes?snapping_crocodile wrote: »If you like your name and want to keep it, would your OH consider going against tradition and changing his surname to yours, so you become Mr and Mrs cool indian surname?Kavanne

You can pretty much choose what you want
Only thing is, people might assume your husband has your surname iyswim.
I would prob use 'Mrs' though - at least is shows you are married.
I double barrelled - but ours go well together. Plus I'm greedy and wanted the best of both worlds hehe
