Sold a car and now I need advice

I really wouldn't continue your discussions with him. You appear to be insinuating to him that if the garage conclude it was an inherant defect you'll give him some money. Even if there was a problem, it's not your responsibility to sort him for it. He should have got a mechanic to inspect him if he was unable to spot problems himself - you are not a trader and therefore he has no comeback to you.
If he continues with the calls tell him you will report him to the police, and if he continues do so.
Did you sell via and advert or auction? If it was an auction I wouldn't even have let him test drive it. The time to test drive it was before the end of the auction.
You've done absolutely nothing wrong, don't let him bully you.
I understand what your saying and I am going to do just.
It was sold by "buy it now",
If I get anymore contact I will tell him to leave me alone or I will call the police.
Thanks again guys0 -

He's swapped the Vin plates and reg plates with his old car as a quick and cheap repair?! Sounds crazy but possible.0 -

Cheap way to get the old one repaired. Too much of a coincidence in my book.
You need to stand your ground and if he persists then go to the police with all his details. I suspect he might not give up easily.0 -

You know I was thinking the same, sounds like he's trying to clone your car and get you to pay for the damage to his, or has swapped the damaged bits from his to yours and now trying to pass it off as peviously damaged.
Police if any more pressure;)I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
As all above, if you wrote sold as seen in the auction receipt then it's a case of tough ****
If you didn't then it's your word against his and you can still refuse to give him the money because he was happy during the drive
Surely you don't even need to write that on it being a private sale- it's still tough ****0 -
If he phones back, state firmly that he test drove the car before he bought it, and that it was sold as seen.
Dont get involved any further than that.0 -
