Sold a car and now I need advice

Hi guys

As the title says, I sold a car on ebay back in January 2010. After a week the buyer phoned me up shouting down the phone at me complaining the car is damaged. I told him the car was fine as he inspected the car and drove it before any money was exchanged.

As I sold it through Ebay I wrote everything I knew was wrong with the car. Please see below the advert. When the guy came to collect the car, i took him for a drive and then let him drive it. After returning to base I asked him to give the car a good inspection and he did. From there on everything went fine. I even gave him a full print out of the auction and a receipt with mine and his details on ( I also scanned a copy ).

I have told the guy that if it is proven to be my fault then I will help him get it sorted but if it is proven to be his fault then I wont acsept any responcability.

What I dont understand is, he knew quite alot about saab cars, so i asked him and he told me he has one already but he smacked it into a kerb and got it wrote off and he was buying mine with the insurance money.

What should I do guys?

Ebay number: 300384922922

  • What's he saying is wrong?

He is saying the car is pulling to the right so he took it to a garage who say one of the suspention arms is damaged and bent.

Now when I had the car it pulled very slightly to the left, It was no where near bad enough to get the tracking done. Not only that it went through its MOT fine in November, and hadnt been bumped while I had it.

Buyer Beware. In a private sale the buyer needs to satisfy themselves to the condition of the item they are buying.

If it was pulling slightly to the left when sold and its now pulling right he's clonked it, end of. Tell him to go away and stop being a t*t

Well it looks to me like he has kerbed it, and is wanting to get out of the deal now.
The car would not have passed the m.o.t like that.

    Yes I agree.

I have replyed to him and asked for the guy who did the MOT to have a look at it, to see if it was done before the MOT.

I havnt heard anything back yet, but saying that it takes him a week to reply.
  • Well tell him in England when you buy a second hand car sometimes you buy a pile of $hite and next time check it before you hand over the cash.

But thats it, the wasnt a pile of !!!!, infact I was rather sad to let it go. I only sold it because I need a 4x4 to pull 2 motorbikes.
