As all above, if you wrote sold as seen in the auction receipt then it's a case of tough ****
If you didn't then it's your word against his and you can still refuse to give him the money because he was happy during the driveOwner of andrewhope.co.uk, hate cars and love them

I bought my car for £1100 - similar price range as that Saab. It has needed various bits of work doing, but I don't phone up the guy who sold it to me! This is what you expect at this price range.
You say you had it a year in the ad, so if it drove OK, how were you to know?
I would ignore him. Too many people trying it on like this from what I have read on these forums.

You're protected then, it was his duty to make sure everything was hunky before parting cash
Tell him to sod off, and if he keeps pestering you call the police and do him for harassment

he paid cash.
and what also was a bit funny, I put a buy it now on ebay as 1500 and said in the advert that 1400 would get them my car. He just did the buy it now, So he paid 100 more than he could have, but he clicked the button so what am I suppose to do, give 100 back?0 -
Just add him to your ignore list. Don't reply to any more emails once you've stated your case. If he leaves you negative feedback, challenge it through eBaY. It's not your problem.... full stop.I'm a pharmacist, not a psychic. :rotfl:0

Thanks guys.
I will just leave it now.
thanks again

I really wouldn't continue your discussions with him. You appear to be insinuating to him that if the garage conclude it was an inherant defect you'll give him some money. Even if there was a problem, it's not your responsibility to sort him for it. He should have got a mechanic to inspect him if he was unable to spot problems himself - you are not a trader and therefore he has no comeback to you.
If he continues with the calls tell him you will report him to the police, and if he continues do so.
Did you sell via and advert or auction? If it was an auction I wouldn't even have let him test drive it. The time to test drive it was before the end of the auction.
You've done absolutely nothing wrong, don't let him bully you.0
