Parcel force lost my (large!) parcels

Hi everyone, i'm new here i was hoping someone could help me out,
I sold a set of alloy wheels via a car forum, the buyer is in northern island, me and a friend wanted to meet him on the mainland rather than sending them via a courier but he insisted i used parcel force, so when i got a quote off there website and it turned out to be alot cheaper than it would cost me to drive to meet him personally I did.
I booked the collection for last wednesday, the driver turned up early as i was finishing taping the boxes (2 boxes with 2 wheels in each) he was obviously impatient and asked if i would be around later and he would come back, you guessed it, he never did, so i called them up and asked what was going on, they then told me they would come tomorrow and upgrade to a 24 hour service.
The same driver came (who i could have strangled but i didnt say anything) and collected the wheels. I sent the tracking number etc to the buyer, the buyer then got back to me saying the tracking number doesnt work, so i tried it and it didnt........
To cut an already long story short the wheels have gone missing, they are worth £700, insurance will only pay out £50!! I rang up and spoke to the drivers boss who confirmed that the drivers log for that day says he collected 2 parcels from my address, now the buyer wants a refund, where do i stand? as a seller i have done everything i was supposed too and have kept the buyer informed the whole time, even giving him the contact name and number of the drivers boss (brian) so he would know i havnt scammed him, im going to get them to send me a copy of the drivers log tomorrow as proof they left my possesion and were in parcelforces hands (or atleast the drivers hands (who knew what was in the boxes btw)).
please help!!
thanks in advance
Aaron

You haven't got much comeback as you sent the items under insured. They may not even pay out the £50 as the items value was more than that. All you can do is phone parcelforce ask why the tracking din't work and hope they turn up0

this is bad situations for you, always take out adequate insurance on packages sent!
The buyer is entitled to their money back and if you dont will most likely sue you and win.Back by no demand whatsoever.0 -
Even if i have proof that the wheels left my possesion?
I really cant beleive this, £700 straight down the drain due to the incompetence of parcel force, or more specifically the driver that collected them.
Cant i make a claim against the driver, If they went missing between him picking them up and them being dropped off at the hub it doesnt take a genius to figure out where they went.
This cant be allowed, if they can just get away with loosing/taking anything thay like?!0 -

mmm its an odd area. You could try to get further so see how far they traced it, maybe speak to consumer direct but i cant see you getting anywhere.Back by no demand whatsoever.0 -

Sorry to be blunt but it was your incompetence for not making sure they were insured enough for transit. A few extra pounds paid for insurance and you wouldn't be in this situation.0 -
^I wouldnt say incompetence but this is true, surely you can understand my anger though, they cant just dissapear, two pretty big and heavy boxes.
good thought hudsonj, il ask them where they were last 'logged' or 'scanned'0 -

Just keep in mind you have no real rights so be very polite and calm if you want to get anywhere!Back by no demand whatsoever.0 -
I know this, i'v learned this the hard way so many times before.
I have been nothing but calm and patient with them, nothing stops me venting my anger via a keyboard though, haha
tbf 'brian' has been very helpfull, il try him again tomorrow and ask about the last time it was tracked and where exactly it traveled/should have travelled too.
surely it is in his best interest to find it, they must have loss cut quota's or something along those lines?0 -
