sure, i'm sure that most people on the thread have done 38 in a 30, but surely if you decide to do this, then the risk you take is getting caught / ticket / fine. by choosing to drive at that speed, surely you accept this risk? in which case, man up and take the points if it did get you.

If so, It most likely is a mobile camera. It would be targetting people in whichever direction the 'tube' (as you describe it) is pointing.

depends on what equipment was in the van. Did it have the speed camera sign on it anywhere?
Sometimes there is an operative inside who will aim the speed detector at you as you approach. Sometimes in this case you are stopped further down the road by a colleague.
Not sure about number plate recognition but when they set up those traps near where I live they will set up a coned area to pull people over aswell shortly after the camera van.
Of course there are some that you wont know until you get a letter through the post - but these mostly record from behind after you go past (like GATSO)
Just saying about what I have seen at the side of the road, and some traffic officers I have spoke to that I know - But there may be other types out there.
