if you can find room at the table youre more than welcome - or shall we just splash out and pay a courier to deliver it piping hot and grilled to your liking, direct to your table?

    lobster hi

not sure if your question is aimed at me but just in case it is ill answer anyway

theres two of us in my house - me and my dad - the 7 of us eating at my house saturday is unusual thank heavens : )

i spend about £30 a week on petrol - do about 240 miles of motorway driving every week. so thats £120 a month .

my normal budget for food is £30-£35 a week for the two of us - down from £100 a week when i started looking at this forum last september! i am still amazed at how my shopping has changed - but this month im budgeting for £20 a week as i am using up everything thats in my freezer and store cupboards - last months salary was way low so it was a necessity to do this!

i only have one more grocery shop and one more petrol tank fill to go before the end of my month so i am hoping il be well under target.

i also work full time but use my free time to batch cook and bake and freeze everything
also have managed to grow rhubarb, peas, gooseberries, blackberries, potatoes, tomatoes, beans, lettuce, cabbage, sprouts, leeks and onions in the garden so rarely have to buy any of these items.

brows the threads here and you wil soon find hundreds of ways to clean more cheaply, cook more cheaply and cut back those costs. it just takes a while to get used to it - one step at a time!

I find that i have cut back a much as I think I am able but seem to b "short" by about £200 a month now that i am losing maintenance for eldest child along with tax credits plus said child is just about to head off to uni!
I work full time and have a saturday job, I have 2 other children under 18 and am at wits end!! any advice would be welcome!

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

  • Tracey,

Perhaps this thread might give you some ideas. It will depend on your budget, likes/dislikes, even your values....I haven't managed to get one sorted despite lots of good intentions!
