Anastacia I always use to think that the family 'needed' a hot dinner with all the trimmings most nights but sometimes you just don't fancy cooking.
One evening a week we have poached/scrambled eggs or spaghetti/beans on toast.Quite healthy ,very cheap and so easy to do.The kids love it.

this is what i use: http://www.menus4moms.com/index.php

it's great bc i don't have to think too much and it even gives shopping lists. Every single recipe that I've tried has been gorgeous.

Anastacia I agree with irchy_mum. Somtimes we have egg and chips, poached eggs on toast, beans/cheese on toast, omlette or jacket potatoes for dinner. Its good for your budget, time saving and I also think we do eat a lot of meat most days so it gives us a break from it.

Also sometimes we have buffet tea - sandwiches saus rolls and a strange concoction of things from the freezer and the kids always pronounce it - 'the best dinner ever'.

Thanks to you all for sharing your lists - I've gained loads of inspiration! :)

Thanks to Squeaky for pointing out the relevant thread. I looked, but didn't find that one!

Essex-girl, we have what we call High Tea at the weekends sometimes - sandwiches or rolls (a favourite is ham, mustard & pease pudding) with h/m cake and cups of tea. Lovely!!

Thanks Irchymum & Essex Girl. Thats what i am going to do. Once or twice a week. I always worry because my friend gives her children all packet foods etc and they are spotty & lacklustre (plus unbeleivably horrid but that may not be the diet!) but something like beans on toast isnt actually unhealthly at all, and why not chips once a week/fortnight, its not like I am going to give them for every meal. They aren't going to beleive their eyes.

Just going to re-visit my meal planner, and sub in a few simple meals & a few days of leftovers. i feel a financial saving coming on!

    Thanks all

I love sharing meals because it gives me some ideas of what I can do.

Anyway our week runs from Wednesday, for some reason I prefer shopping then. This week we have mostly been eating salads

Thursday - Savoury rice and salad
    Friday - Spaghetti Bolognaise
Saturday - Ham Salad and Strawberries and Cream
Sunday - Takeaway Chips and Curry Sauce
Monday - Tuna Steaks and Salad
Tuesday - HM Quiche and Salad

Oooooo, a week when I have actually done a meal plan! Here's mine:

Monday: Chinese Takeaway (I can claim the cost of a meal back from work as I didn't get home til late)

    Tuesday - Mushroom Risotto

Wednesday - Beef Stifado (one portion left over from Sunday. OH is working late)

Thursday - Pasta Primavera (chicken, spring veg & mozzarella)

Friday - Pork something or another. Prob with potatoes as we've already done pasta & rice so far this week.
