No it's not that simple - there's a maximum capacity of the servers in the same way you can upgrade a laptop from 1GB of RAM to 2GB of RAM but you can't do 1GB to 4GB. They'll also have to reconfigure the databases to point them to the new server, which cetianly isn't a small job. Then if they don't want the extra server capacity permanently then they'll have to move the site back, which would be just as much work again.
Well not 'simple' but it's not like building a motorway. I know some setups you can rent extra 'nodes' - such as high capacity VPS networks.
They should have had some clue this was going to happen though!

If people aren't aware Nokia Music are currently giving away £16 worth of free downloads (enough for 2 albums) and you're not restricted by choice:

So if you haven't done that you might want to try it instead of keep going to a site that isn't working.
  • Its listed on the Magic Freebies daily mailing too now....

Its gonna get a whole lot worse...lol..

The site looks like it's working now but the checkout facility is broken - you get Internal Server Error 500 when you checkout even though the site was running quickly and let's you enter the discount code.

Yep - I selected my album, entered the code and it set the amount to £0, and then went to checkout and it pooped.
    And again...
(But apparently "morrison" is the name of one of their servers, and "hendrix" another.)

How ironic that the servers are named after dead people. Perhaps that's why the servers keep dying. :rotfl:
  • Success, finally!!! I've just managed to get an order to process after a lot of refreshing and it is sat in my order history. Don't reckon I'm going to waste any time trying to download it until at least the weekend though.

Keep on trying people, hopefully you will be successful as well.
  • Tried to get this about 2 pm yesterday - busy
Got in about 3 pm chose an album - crashed
    Been trying ever since.
Don't like any of the albums on offer but thought one would be good for my daughter.
Impossible to get on even at 6 am this morning.
    Still no luck.
I guess I have spent/wasted alot of my time which I value at more than £5 so I'm giving up with no free album.

Ironically, I was trying to buy something from tunetribe before I knew of this offer. Given this experience, I am less inclined to shop with them now.
