    Still not working for me.
  • Thanks TuneTribe. Could you make sure that we can download the album we've bought more than 3 times as I'm having trouble downloaded the full album. Only get 3-5 songs each time (must be an interruption in the connection?).

There could be 5 million people trying to access a site that usually only has a few thousand people trying to access it. Your point is like saying they should build a new motorway serving Glastonbury just for the Glastonbury Festival even if hardly anyone would use it for 51 weeks of the year.
It's nothink like building a motorway for Glastonbury!

You can simply rent more server capacity for the period needed, should Tunetribe be using a professional enough setup!

I'm guessing the technical guys really had no clue to the requirements necessery and I can't believe they still aren't back up - perhaps just a lack of experience!

People must be desperate, some have really put themselves out for their free £5 album - LOL.

A non-MSE money saving email sent out this morning has a link to Tune Checker's free £4.99 album offer - there could be as much traffic on the site today as yesterday

It's £5, don't let it get you down! It's not a good look for these services though...

  • Jimbugalee: Yes, you will be able to download your album in full when the traffic calms down after the promotion.

We're loving the Glastonbury analogy guys.

    10,000 free album downloads

Update 5pm Wed 3 Feb '10: Tunetribe struggling with demand
The company giving away the free MP3s, Tunetribe, is struggling with the current traffic. Don't worry though - only a fraction of the downloads have gone though it has upped the number of available downloads to 15,000. Best thing to do is come back and try a little later - we'll keep this updated with any further developments.

Below is the original text explaining the deal - though do please wait to try it

We've blagged 10,000 free album downloads from the TuneTribe website from a selection of over 100 inc Alexandra Burke, Paloma Faith, Micheal Jackson, Mark Ronson & more - all worth around a fiver.
    To get your free album:
    1. Choose your album from the selection in the free download offer
    2. Register at Tunetribe
    3. At the checkout add the code 'TUNE'
Warning! Ensure you're getting the maximum value
Before you choose your album, check what you would need to pay if you bought it - using our cheapest MP3 and CD comparison.
Then if you're planning to buy it and others, get the freebie that would cost you the most if you paid direct.
    Why is Tunetribe doing this?
Like many of these promotions its aim is to build its database of customers, and of course implicit in getting the download you have to sign up to it. However that won't cost you anything - though you are likely to get marketing emails.

No it's not that simple - there's a maximum capacity of the servers in the same way you can upgrade a laptop from 1GB of RAM to 2GB of RAM but you can't do 1GB to 4GB. They can move the site to another server but they'd also have to reconfigure the databases to point them to the new server, which cetainly isn't a small job and can cause the site to break if it isn't tested properly before everyone starts going on it. Then if they don't want the extra server capacity permanently then they'll have to move the site back, which would be just as much work again.
  • Not sure they wouldn't be better putting ahome page saying 'offer withdrawn - come back in a week' and get themseves sorted first.
