I've also been trying on and off since 1pm while I was at work and then at home, and am getting that same error.

From what I understand, a 502 proxy error normally means the server has collapsed under the load of traffic to it , and now requires manual intervention to resurrect it.

    See here http://www.checkupdown.com/status/E502.html

I registered before 1pm and was fine, all set to go, put in the "code" then kicked out, nothing since. Shambles to say the least!!!

  • Like Sunshine - I also registered on the site late morning - clearly the surge has knocked their servers out completely......
What should I put in here that won't upset people.........

I was thinking I would do it all in advance (obviously so I could be one of the first to download the Paul Potts album :rotfl:but it was clearly in vain). That'll trust me to be a smart*rse!! Now I have no free download but am subscribed to a website that will no doubt send me annoying e-mails every week. They sent me a confirmation e-mail harping on about how much I would love the site etc. I replied saying "perhaps I would if it worked." No further reply yet.....

  • Well we'll see what tomorrow brings.....it looks as if the server load is not relenting. Yes we know that the Tips email goes out to over 1 million addresses and from previous comms sent out and the surges in traffic that ensue - the powers that be do have an indication of increased traffic.

I hope that TuneTribe and MSE can review whats happened here - so that if promos do occur people will still take them up and get something that is offered.

Credit that TuneTribe have extended the offer but MSE should be able to offer some indication to potential "partners" of the expected traffic - because I think a great number of people will get the freebie and then not order due to the issues experienced, which doesn't really help TuneTribe's case to break into the market and establish itself - however to be fair would the big players be able to withstand that surge at 1300 today ?

Perhaps someone with the figures can give an indication of the traffic flow.....

  • Oh, for the love of Odd...is there any chance those of us who have attempted this freebie from the begining could actually be guaranteed a bloody download? How many hours and still not working!

And a Heaven in a wild flower,
Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand,
    And Eternity in an hour.

It looks like I may have got further than everyone else at the moment.
I picked my album, Pet Sounds by the Beach Boys at £3.99, added to basket, to checkout, registered, received my confirmation email, followed link and finally logged in, got to checkout, put in the code and it was not valid, tried all sorts of variants of TUNE, tune, "TUNE" etc but nothing, then kicked out.
I've since received my welcome email, but cannot get on at all now.
I had the code accepted at about 2pm, and it said I was processing a non-payment order, but got no further as it then collapsed again. Still not happening :(
