  • Velocity-are you following a particular diet? Oven chips are low fat and if you are doing SW you can have them 'free'! (doing the SW chips recipe)
Empty pockets never held anyone back, only empty heads and empty hearts can do that -Peale
  • Bet you miss him.

Morning all, i don't post very often but lifes a bit of a mess at the moment and i think if i post daily you lovely people on here will keep me sane(r) lol and more grounded...HOPEFULLY!

Buried head in sand too much and finally biting the debt bullet...

I'm supposed to be dieting so no idea what i'm doing for tea...i really fancy chips tho :( lol!!!

Hi Velocity, try making some wedges with the skins on, thick cut and roast in the oven with a spray of oil! :T

Believe it or not, you can even enjoy unlimited chips - provided you follow our low fat way of cooking these great family favourites.

Serves: 4 (if you're feeling generous!)
Syns per serving: Free on Green and Extra Easy, 8 Syns on Original

2lb/908g medium sized Maris Piper potatoes
    Fry Light spray
Crushed sea salt and malt vinegar [optional]

chips are high on the list of food that's hard to give up when you're losing weight.

The thinner they are, the more fat they absorb, because a larger area on the outside is exposed to oil.

Crinkle-cut are the fattiest chips as they have the greatest surface area and so absorb most fat. Deep fried chips are the very worst culprits, but some varieties of oven-baked can be high in fat too.

    1. Preheat the oven to 240°C/475°F/Gas 9. Peel the potatoes using a potato peeler and remove any blemishes or 'eyes'. Slice lengthwise into approx ½in/1cm thick rectangular chips.

    2. Bring a large saucepan of salted water to the boil. Add the chips and cook for 4 minutes. Drain and leave aside for 10 minutes to dry.

    3. Return the chips to the dry saucepan, cover with a lid and shake to 'rough up' the edges of the chips - this roughness is important to the texture of the chips.

    4. Spray a metal baking tray with Fry Light. Transfer the chips to the tray, spray lightly with Fry Light and bake in the oven for 20-25 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown on all sides. Drain them on absorbent kitchen paper and serve with salt and vinegar.

It's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.
  • Oh yes..my kids won't eat any other chips than SW ones-they love 'em!

See this is why I NEVER weigh myself, it's no good for you.

Go by how you feel and how your clothes fit.
That feeling of utter failure as you step on the scales and get a higher weight than you anticipated can totally destroy your willpower, confidence and all good feeling about how you've eaten.

BEING FIT & HEALTHY AND BEING THIN ARE 2 VERY DIFFERENT THINGS - I KNOW WHICH I PREFER! ...although it took me many years to distinguish between the two!

Bunny, Skype is fantastic, the best thing since sliced bread!
  • Why do days off tick by so very quickly! Feel like I still have a million and one things to do and no time to do it in. Hope everyone is having a good day :)

Our greatest weakness lies in giving up; always try just one more time
