Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Wednesday 3rd February. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.

Morning OS lovelies wave.gif

Casper - I do the list thing with my recipe books too and also have assorted book marks all through them.
Heavenleigh - sorry to hear you have been having a bad time hon.
Aplaceinthesun - really enjoyed your long post
Rachel - hugs and positive vibes for your OHs mum.
Csarina - it must be lovely to be in your new home, I hope you have many years of happiness there together.
Noahs - Hope you found your missing paperwork hon.
thankyou.gifto everyone who mentioned me while I was gone from the thread, Sunny kept me up to date and I was really touched by your words. Thanks also for the pms and mail. I really appreciated the thoughts.
For those of you who asked: Tris has complications from the crash so is still in hospital being closely monitored. Michelle has had an operation but seems to be getting better, though she will not be out of hospital for a while.
Breakfast is bran flakes with added sultanas; lunch - tomato soup and HM bread and dinner will be a slow cooker beef casserole with the last of the summer crop of shallots, carrots, peppers, touch of chilli etc. That should do us at least two nights. Have to do a meal plan as mine runs out on Thurs. We bought the Sainsburys 3 for £10 meat deal yesterday and it was a real bargain. 500g casserole steak, 1000g beef steak mince and a nice sized pork joint.
I hope everyones day is as good as it can be, and that anyone feeling poorly feels better soon. With love, light and grouphug3.giffor all.

Good morning everyone. I've hardly had time to post on here lately, I'm afraid. We are busy getting organised for our trip back to the UK on Saturday, so there's a lot of packing going on, not least all the Christmas pressies we're taking back with us. Still, it's nice to have a second Christmas to look forward to!

MSD - lots of (((hugs))) to Tris and Michelle.

I've missed such a lot on here so I hope everyone is keeping well and (((hugs))) for those who are poorly or anxious. I fully intend to keep up with you once we have returned from the UK, not that I'll want to come back! I haven't seen the family - apart from on Skype - since August last year. My new grandchild is now over five months old, so I'm longing to see her, and I can't wait to see DGS and DGD1, either. It'll be fun opening presents with them all.

DH has slowed down with the renovations now that our trip is so close, but he has some major stuff planned for the house once we come back. I've been his 'labourer' for the last few months but he has proper help planned for the structural stuff so, hopefully, I will have more time on my hands. I must admit, I have become quite the amateur expert on French plastering and so on! Not that I ever intend to use it!

Anyway, I'm not sure what has been going on here because I haven't been keeping up, but, Aussie Lass, I hope your trip is going well and that you are getting used to the cold!

Redruby - I hope you are settled in your new home.

    (((Hugs))) to everyone else, too.

OS-wise, dinner today is lamb hotpot so I can prep for that this morning and it will just cook itself while I carry on packing. I also need to make some soup because we have friends coming for lunch tomorrow, so I may as well make it today - I'll do sweet potato, red pepper, bacon bits, and garlic, to use up bits from the fridge. With a little chilli added, it makes delicious soups and has become one of our favourites.

Anyway, I'd better go and have a shower.

I hope you all have a great day.

Nice to see you back MSD. I'm going back next week to shout at the Dr, as I want a referal.
I bet you are looking forward to Saturday Moiliere.
Csarina, glad you are in ok.
    Breakfast porridge
    Lunch Soup
    Tea Carbonara.

Off to work soon, it's been quiet for a couple of day, probably the calm before the storm, lol.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester.

    Welcome back MSD.

Cool damp morning. Work today and then nothing planned. No kids to pick up later anyway.
Made leftovers yesterday, they were quite delicious. Might have Pukka pies (large family ones reduced in ASDA) tonight for tea.

    Well, not much else.... Cheers

    Good Morning :)

Diva Brilliant to see you back! I've missed seeing your posts :A

Hester You shout at the doc it's disgraceful that they are expecting you to carry on with hearing loss

Mioliere Bet you can't wait until you see the family. Enjoy your 2nd Christmas :D

Anguk Still thinking about you hon.

I have discovered a down side to having shorter hair - I look like a scarecrow first thing :rotfl: DS2 & DS3 have already laughed their socks off at me! I shall go and wash it & make it look reasonable shortly.

Plans for today are to go supermarket shopping this morning then I'm going to my friends house to teach her how to crochet this afternoon. It'll only be the basics as I've not long learned myself, fortunately she wants to make granny squares ;)

Breakfast is porridge & a banana, lunch is spicy lentil soup & HM soda bread and tea tonight is a quiche & salad of grated carrots, sultanas & peanuts. We have some lemon drizzle cake for afters too :) The children will have beans & poached egg on toast as they don't do quiche.

Have a good day everyone xxx

    Morning all,

Did not want to get out of bed this morning, could have stayed there another hour at least, off to work today, so the painting will stop again for a while. Kathy we have settled in thanks, its lovely, we just have a mamoth task ahead now with the decorating etc, but it will be lovley.

Porridge and a banana for breakfast, might take some soup and a roll for lunch, and dinner will be chicken fried rice, with left over chook from sunday.

I need to put a wash on tonight, and maybe hoover through. Rubbish to go out this morning, and I need to swish and swipe the kitchen before I go.

NPM, I hope you have found your paperwork by now xx

Hugs where needed, have good days all xx

    Morning All

    Hello again MSD

    ((((hugs)))) wherever needed.

Chilly start here, will get dressed in a mo when the house has warmed up some more. Office this morning, have a big meeting with our clients and other contractors Friday so need to start getting stuff ready for that. Also have horrible filing job to do. Can't do much work till my new laptop comes and is sorted - then I will be very busy.

Towells and bedding to be washed today, OH is at home this week and has been doing the washing but he only washes clothes?? Will have a route around in the freezer for something for dinner tonight & work out the rest of the weeks meals.

Have finally received the insurance payout for the garage and worktop so need to chase the builders and see how quickly things can get done.

Going to finish my coffee and have a little surf, thing will have a look at the grabbit board (must be good, must be good!!!);)

    Have a great day.x

    Morning all

Dark and damp here this morning. OH had another early start so he was up and away at stupid early o'clock, I didn't even hear him get up! DS1 and DS2 are up and have just finished breakfast and I'm very naughty as I eat breakfast as I'm on here!!

Had lovely roast chicken pieces last night with roast potatoes, carrots, broccolli, peas, gravy and some leftover yorkshires from Monday night. Those that wanted had HM bakewell tart, HM cakes or biscuits for dessert and I had a yoghurt. Tonight we are having smoked sausage and mushroom pasta in a creme fraiche sauce, yummy, one of our favourites! Trying to make some different things as we seem to be eating the same old things, so this week will make cookies instead of the biscuits and possible some scones and mince pies (I used to be able to make reasonably ok pastry but now it's horrid so am trying to get back into it, any advice/tips would be greatfully received). Will do a freezer inventory of the outside freezer at some point before Friday as it's quite full but with what I'm not sure!! Will make some carrot soup so I have something different to my salad for a couple of lunches.

I really get so much pleasure from doing HM baking and cooking, I haven't done very much for such a long time I'd forgotten how good it makes you feel knowing what's in what your family's food. Even though I'm dieting I don't find it difficult to bake and not eat it (maybe that says something about how bad at it I am!!!) as I know that I can have it if I want but know that I don't want to go mad eating it all and then moaning and being upset when I'm fat.

Only have to work today until 12.15pm then my paid working week is finished and I'll be on days off, so then need to get cracking with the unpaid work at home!

Must go now otherwise I'll be late for work.

Keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

Good to see you back MSD and I hope you managed to successfully 'de-clutter' your head-stuff

Its freeeeeeezing here this morning! Someone messed with the heating and it didn't come on this morning so I'm just waiting til the water heats up to go and get my hair washed.

Half day for me at work :T I have some MS Jobs to do - I have 9 to do locally before the 12th so I'll just get as many as I can done this afternoon. Then tomorrow I'm flying to Newcastle to stay with Mum and Dad until Monday...No cooking no cleaning and only one child for FIVE DAYS :j I haven't been since October so I'm looking forward to seeing everyone. Also managed to pick up 3 MS jobs at the airport on the way out and 1 on the way back ;)

We had '2 for Tuesday' from dominoes last night...not OS at all but it was lovely!

Right best get a wriggle on - need to go and make myself vaguely presentable!

    Morning all :)

Still croaking here, but not as bad as yesterday :)

Good to see you back MSD :)

Well, I'm at the hospital again this afternoon, so need to get sorted for that. It's not until later this afternonn though.

Before then, mum and dad are visiting and dad will be bringing my pheasant, which I think I will try in the SC. I can leave it on then when we go to the hospital.

Mum is bringing some shopping over, so with everything we've had recently, I won't have to do much in the way of food shopping this month.

I need to sort some work out for the girls before my parents get here and there's a few things to put away, although the house is at least clean.

Hope you all have a good day and (((HUGS))) to those in need :)

Nice to see you back MSD!!

I got a busy day at work, holding a selection day for young people for my next team. Need to find 15 good ones so fingers crossed!!

Very little OS today for me. Going out for dinner (Harvester Early Bird offer). DW is on at moment so will unload it later.

I need to buy a new outdoors/waterproof cocat as I have ripped mine so will try to pop to Matalan later as their ski range is pretty good.

    Have a good day all
