I recently tried to claim back my fees from my Barclays additions account but the financial ombudsmen have turned my case down as they say it has gone past the time limit. Really annoyed as I had no idea that I was allowed to complain about this account and it was part of the PPI scam. I paid for my account for at least eight years and didn't use any of the supposed additions. Would really like to know if there's anything else I can do as I don't think this is fair0

This thread is not about packaged bank accounts.
However, packaged bank accounts have nothing to do with PPI. There is nothing wrong with packaged bank accounts and you appear to have had no complaint until someone told you that you can complain and get some money. The timebars exist to prevent that sort of opportunistic complaint.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. Hi, I've used Martin's template and have completed my letter as to why I should be refunded my bank charges, however I don't know who to send my letter to, I am with Lloyds Bank and I live in Cheltenham, on my bank statements it comes up with the Weymouth address as that is where I opened my account,
Do I send it to my local Cheltenham branch which I usually use or Weymouth, or did people send it to some head office branch?
Thanks...0 -
I'd read this thread before sending it anywhere.
Are you in current financial hardship?
If not, you are wasting your time..
The banks won their court case about charges more than six years ago.0 -

HQ/customer service is usually best with bank complaints.
Email is also fine. Please be polite to OPs and remember this is a site for Claimants and Appellants to seek redress against their bank, ex-boss or retailer. If they wanted morality or the view of the IoD or Bank they'd ask them.0 -
I completed the template available on The Money Saving expert two months ago and have just received a refund of Just over £2000.
I received no calls or letters from RBS just a transfer into my account marked Comp? This money was for being mis sold a charged bank account in 2001. I'm still awaiting an explanation, apology or even just a letter to inform me of the refund.
I would highly reccommend making use of the letter template and the Resolver service. :money:0 -
This thread is about bank charges, not packaged accounts.
Regardless, well done on your success..0 -

They are not required to refund anything.
Whilst they are required to consider your CURRENT financial situation and the impact recent charges may have, if they feel you are currently in financial hardship, a refund of recent charges (typically last 3-12 months) is just one of the options available to them. Other options are suspending future charges for a period or putting you into a debt management process.
If you incurred the charges prior to the period of hardship then there is little reason for them to consider refunding anything historic. That is not the purpose of hardship goodwill gestures.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. I want to establish if I can request the case is reopened in light of this new information?
