Is it possible that an anonymous email can be traced back to the sender
Make sure it is one with no CCTV and no CCTV covering the street outside, and never access the email account from any other computer to which you can be traced. Don't leave any DNA either.

It sounds like the wrongdoer is hardly a gentleman himself. If you could count upon him to react "it's a fair cop, bang to rights, I'll accept what's due to me", then the above comment would make sense. Given the possibility of violence, it's a dumb thing to say.
