Oh dear stereotype alert.
I have a middle aged MB and i'm middle aged and portly meself and i enjoy having my Sub properly set up to aid the overall sound with some feeling.
Don't really play music in town, but out in the country there's little to beat Alice Cooper's unusual songs soothing the troubled mind with helpings of orchestral backing or indeed lead....don't think for a minute that A Coopers hit's are anything like his clever album stuff.
Got to keep the windows up though to increase the bass effect.
Without the sub some good music doesn't have the depth, for practicality the boot has to be the home for the bass.0 -
What are the symptoms of NIHL? (Noise Induced Hearing Loss)
When a person is exposed to loud noise over a long period of time, symptoms of NIHL will increase gradually. Over time, the sounds a person hears may become distorted or muffled, and it may be difficult for the person to understand speech. Someone with NIHL may not even be aware of the loss, but it can be detected with a hearing test.
Who is affected by NIHL?
People of all ages, including children, teens, young adults, and older people, can develop NIHL. Approximately 15 percent of Americans between the ages of 20 and 69—or 26 million Americans—have high frequency hearing loss that may have been caused by exposure to loud sounds or noise at work or in leisure activities. Recreational activities that can put someone at risk for NIHL include target shooting and hunting, snowmobile riding, woodworking and other hobbies, playing in a band, and attending rock concerts. Harmful noises at home may come from lawnmowers, leaf blowers, and shop tools and particularly loud car stereo systems.
I sincerely hope that the boneheads who drive around in their cars with the stereo systems blasting out appreciate that when they are older (notice the 'er'), a hearing aid will be a necessity. When I was in Los Angeles police would rip out all the wires to these systems and give a hearty ticket. Pity we don't do it here.0 -
Theres a great website for all you 'tuned' (in the loosest sense of the word) car haters in here

www.barryboys.co.uk
Take a look at and enjoy the Shed of the Week sections. Some truly amazing work on there.
And I'm less annoyed by loud bass in cars than I am by loud exhausts. Just no need! My Brother in law has the loudest exhaust I've ever heard, its ridiculous. You can literally hear it a mile away.0 -

At least they've made a bit of effort...
Which is more than can be said for the people who drive around with their music on full blast, and their stock speakers are distorting under the strain...0 -
well eventually i hope to see the look on their face when their speakers blow
