I'm pretty certain you'd be right there Billie! And frustratingly, if I hadn't been at my friend's at the weekend, I would have called the bank and cancelled the cheque before it could have been cashed - and only lost a bit of face and a tenner!

Though the small print does say (among other things) "I understand that unless and until the finance agreement is executed this agreement will have no effect. Following execution of the finance agreement should I cancel the finance agreement in accordance with my cancellation rights as referred to in the terms of the finance agreement then I understand that this agreement will automatically cancel at the same time UNLESS at my request you have already started the installation of work in which case I understand the cash terms opposite will then apply"

:T:T:T Wake up, wake up... Yes, I did just subject you to small print. Sorry! No need to make you all suffer too, I should have given you prior warning! No, I'm not entirely sure what it means either! Though clearly, the composer does not know what a comma is for, or that it is bad form to be so repetitive. It's hardly plain English either, even if it does use easy-read words.

Essentially they never executed a finance agreement as I cancelled within the time limit, so - in theory - I should get my money back. In practice, I'm sure they'll ignore me and make it as difficult as possible in the hope I'll just go away. Which is probably what I would have done before I met you good people, but now I have to be accountable :D.

    This is gripping stuff!

I don't think the kitchen can have been your best idea ever. Ask your daddy to change the fronts or something...!

I think it just means you can cancel, but it doesn't actually say your deposit will be refunded - does it!?

I have been but he is now very practised in the art of ignoring said daughter and deflecting work he doesn't want to do. 30 odd years of sweet talking him and now he listens to my mum, who has always pointed out to him that I can do these things myself if I really want to. :rotfl::rotfl:

I can't argue; she is right. And I should be proud he has finally learned not just to give in to me :D. Plus he has already sorted out the bathroom, made me a smashing fireplace and all sorts of other things.

Now he buys me presents such as drills, jigsaws, tool boxes... I think he's trying to tell me something. I'm just not sure what :rotfl:.

Again, you are absolutely right. Might as well give it a go though, eh? What's the worst that can happen?

Still feeling sheepish about it. Luckily I don't seem to be able to answer my landline, I press the button and it continues to ring. It's probably best I don't investigate that one, that way I'll never have to answer the phone and find myself saying something that goes against all my instincts and better judgement!

Waiting on the plumber to arrive now. Should really put that £150 into my spending diary and get it up to date.

'Tis another dreich day in Glasgow though, so perhaps a cuppa and those nice chocolates my work bought me are more in order :).

Funny that you get useful presesnts from your Dad; if ever I ask to borrow my Dad's drill, I'm only allowed the hand drill as 'not safe' to be let loose with a powered one :rotfl:

Ok, so twice I've borrowed the hedge trimmer & twice I've returned it with a much shorter cord as I slashed through it whilst wielding it vaguely in the direction of some conifers while perched atop a step ladder ... but really, have you ever tried drilling through a concrete lintel with a 1960's hand drill ?

I am now the proud owner of one new, shiny, sparkling white, functional radiator! (Poor guy found a rather clogged up hair brush behind it. It definitely wasn't mine (wrong colour by a country mile) so it's clearly been festering there for over two and a half years and belongs to the previous owner. Eugh!) And it *only* cost £130, £20 less than I expected. That £20 is now ferreted away and may even last longer than the last one since I have now cancelled the paper boy and won't be caught empty handed.

I have had to wear my master-money-juggling-monkey hat tonight and sort out what needs to be where since my pay went into my old account but all of the direct debits have now transferred to my new account. This would have been easier had I not locked myself out of my new internet banking. I still don't understand how that happened as I copied my ID and pin from the letter... when I made the inevitable phone call to IT, he told me my ID was incorrect but when he told me what it was, he gave me the same number I had just used?

Anyway, there should now be enough money there to cover the anticipated outgoings, but I can't get into the account to check the actual outgoings until my new number arrives. Sigh. My only concern is that I pay my RBS loan twice as RBS didn't give A&L details of that direct debit, but I did. I guess this is no bad thing, as long as I keep my master-money-juggling-monkey hat on and check there's money there to cover it, as the RBS loan is the highest interest rate and A&L apparently guarantee no charges during switchover... might have to double check the timescales tomorrow for that though!

So tomorrow's agenda is to either 1). Cull the wardrobe and sort out some ebay sales (which I really can't be bothered with) or 2). Drag out last years bank statements to see what budget I really have been living to and cross check this against my SOA (which, I am beginning to believe more and more every day, is the budget I think or want to be living to). Which I also can't be bothered with.

Generally this means I will tidy everything in site, so if nothing else, I should have sparkly, tidy house for a few days :D.

I guess if I do any one of those things, it will be a good day! :)

I guess that would be much like using the power plate at the gym! Your entire body is vibrating but there's nothing much happening! And you're screaming in frustration as there is anything else you'd rather be doing! :D

Today's projected construcutve activities have been somewhat thwarted by an amazingly erratic sleeping pattern!

Off to the gym to procrastinate yet further!

Have realised I've forgotten to take any of my tablets in the last few days too! So hopefully taking them, and heading to a car boot sale with my friend on Sunday morning, will sort out the sleeping a bit. Though the car boot sale is likely to be disasterous for the crazy clothes chalenge! :p

"Scotland can still win it if they keep their composure"... :rotfl::rotfl: Composure! I don't think Scotland knows the meaning of the word! God, they're even going to lose to Italy! It sucks to be a Scotland fan - whatever they are trying their hand at! And to think some people even want independence! What would we do with that!?

    Rant over :).

Been a busy weekend and set to continue, though I'm not sure what it is that has been keeping me busy! Been dog walking (not my dog), to the gym, to the shops... finally got a mop that might clean the floors in here properly! And some scales... these are not for me but for accurately weighing up postage costs for anything I am going to put on ebay.

A bit pre-emptive as I haven't yet done any of the things I was going to do yesterday, including sorting out an ebay pile... but they are on todays agenda... just as soon as I watch the last few minutes of Scotland humiliating themselves in the rugby yet again :(.

Clearly sorting out ebay stuff was easier than facing my finances for the last year! Possibly because it involved me prancing about in front of the mirror, trying on all the clothes I own! I have now reduced my wardrobe (3 door, solid wood) to a third and actually wouldn't need the double bit if it weren't for my shoes :D!

Have a pile the size of a small child to wash and iron... and that's befoe I even open up ebay on the computer. But the process has been started - and must be continued if I ever want to see the floor in my bedroom again! (It might falter at the ironing stage, I warn you now!)

However, I am about to abandon my flat and ignore the mess as I can't take it any more! :) (Not literally, I'm just off on the hunt for a friend with a tidier, warm flat with milk to add to a cuppa :) And perhaps biscuits too.)

My Spotify "invite" eventually came through after I don't know how long too, so I have been catching up on all the music I haven't bought in the last hundred years :D. *Diabolically out of tune* "The sex is on fireeeeeee". :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Hours of fun!

  • How's your Sunday been?

Well done on making a start on the ebay listings, you've motivated me to have a sort out - I'm going to aim to list 2 things a week for March and would like to make £80 which I think seems do-able.

I've had a 'back to my old ways' weekend - I'm still two weeks from pay day and have done really well for the first two weeks, so I relaxed a little this weekend, ended up going to waitrose and spent too much on food and picked up a couple of CDs too! I need to sort myself out over mid-month slackness!
