Murdered by luddites? The mind boggles!
Mental note to self 1: do not lift the lid on your popcorn to see how it is doing!
Mental note to self 2: do not transfer £101.40 to RBS from "spending" account without remembering you have already made a payment of £300 to the Virgin credit card. Oh pants! There's not enough in there to cover it! And there's not enough left in bills account to cover. There might be enough left in RBS overdraft but they charge 50p a day or something daft. Better that than an unauthorised overdraft charge if I don't sort it though, I guess!
What a muppet.
Mental note to self 3: Stop. Breath. Don't be so over-zealous!

Nic, You remind me of a flatmate I used to have. Came into the kitchen to find him trying to remove the lid from a fully pressurised pressure cooker. I thought I was about to see his head pinned to the ceiling.

In my (rather shaky) defense, there was no popping sounds occurring when I lifted the lid!
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: (What a waste of random bits of popcorn! If I'd have been a frog, I could have caught them all with my tongue!)
I'm glad I'm not one of those people who can't laugh at themselves!
(Tenuous link (!). Boss called today to say she had spoken to supervisor who had agreed to give me more autonomy. Gee thanks! I didn't have much to say to that. What can you say, really?)
Who cares! I'm pretty certain I'll be in Africa in 18 months time, give or take a debt or three! Or seven.

Have a lovely holiday and enjoy the dog walking to aid in the training. I always do the last minute fling now. Funny given that I have always been a very organised list person. I seem to remember more when I do the fling thing.
Enjoy yourselfSome days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, I will try again tomorrow -- Mary Anne Radmacher0 -
Parent's safely waved off (I thought they were going to Ireland. They are going to Italy! No difference!!!).
Laptop remembered and set up with minimum fuss! Brother on standby for technical issues (like having no idea how to work the TV as it's way too flat and technical for me!).
Brother been made redundant.
He's a landscape gardener so not a lot of work around.
Think I need to persuade him to set up £1 standing orders for all his bills (he's cancelled the d/d's so he can still pay mortgage) and concentrate on how he is going to pay the mortgage. He's not used to debt and it freaks him out, so I hope he'll be ok. He hates reading (dyslexic) so it's unlikely that I'll get him hooked on MSE - but I can at least pass on what I've gleaned.
Dogs fed and watered and will rather soon be staring up me with their big "walk me" eyes". Mum has left her waterproofs, her gators and an ankle length wax jacket! Which is hilarious but probably also rather practical given the rain here today! (And with my big sunglasses on people might just assume I'm a star :rotfl:)
SouthernBelle* - I choose to accept your challenge!
In my head I have this time at home to complete my course! That means I can send the stuff off to the prof and, if it's not in a passable state, I'll have time to fix it before the absolute, final due date (16th Sept). It also means I can concentrate on the walking and the conference when I get home...
I have one last GP appointment when I return home too. Then my GP is off on mat leave! Perhaps she'll be back just in time to give me any jags for the next part of my adventure!
Right, must feed and water me, then take these pooches for a paddle in the puddles!Jan10: 28,315.81 Jan11: 18,015.32 Jan12: 7,682.58 Jan13: 2,987.73 Current debt: 1,225.55

I am now fed and watered but the doglets are no longer mooching; they're flaked out (and we haven't even been out yet)!
So I checked my accounts again...
The £300 + £101.40 have come out of my "spending" account leaving me overdrawn, but not, as I feared, over the agreed overdraft. I have £40 left until that happens and nothing coming out.
Which is ok. I can leave it alone as I have £45 in cash (The fiver I found squashed at the bottom of my mobile case. The £40 from Papa for deisel for driving down. Which is lovely of him. And handy, as it turns out!)
Though I have little plans, those I do have include meeting an old school friend for drinks on Friday night, going out with my nephew and brother (or staying in, weather depending!) for the day either tomorrow or Thursday, meeting friend with one boy in a cast and the other in his chair on Saturday and meeting a friend I have never met before some time next week...
Suddenly two weeks doesn't seem long enough! Just as well little pup whines for her breakfast at 5.30am!:eek::eek: (She and I will be very grumpy at each other!) But I will have to get up at the crack of dawn to walk and study and socialise!

I'm not even meeting you for coffee unless I have confirmation that the course work is done

Sorry to hear about your brother's job
There is a lot of it about.
Enjoy your time dog sitting & splashing about in the puddles in the wet weather gear - we expect a photo!

Eureka!!!!
Nic I have made an astounding discovery, it seems your head & your diary are just not on the same page!!!!

Mwah ha ha ha ha! Game On!
:D:D:D
Lets make it official then, MatyMoo, please act as an official witness?

I SB* of daan sarf do hereby challenge little Niccatw of oop norf to complete ALL outstanding coursework before her sponsored charity marathon. IF work is completed I will add my donation (of whatever I can fleece from the jailer!!) to Niccatws chosen charity. Though I accept I may appear to be a psychological terrorist by inflicting such cruel terms, I personally think it extremely cruel to send a wee scots lass that hates the cold out into extremely cold?wet?windy?icy?snowy?hurricane? weather conditions when she could be cosied up in a slankit! However, I have discovered that the wee scots lass would face any challenge for a worthy cause and is motivated to walk that extra mile to help everyone that needed help....this challenge is made with love, to inspire you & motivate you.... and a win, win all round in a true BOGOF MSE kinda way! GO NIC, :T challenge set & I hope to 'lose'! :T
It's coz you iz worth it innit! :A
On a more serious note, sorry to hear about your brother, hope it doesn't last too long! xx

My brother usually lands on his feet so I'm sure he will be fine. We are very, very different though and I'm usually the one saying "don't jump there" as he waves me off with a shrug of his shoulders. He's just had some rubbish times lately and at the moment is in a situation where he can "earn" more not working than he was able to when working (and earning a fairly decent wage). Which pretty much sums up what's wrong with society today. He's always been a grafter though so I'm hoping this will just be temporary. And I need to stop being all big-sisterly about it (especially since I moved away from home when I was 18 and he was 15, so it's not as if we are the closest of siblings)!
Anyhoo, I popped on here from uni website because my head was procrastinating when I was trying to tell it not to!
And there's SB*, knowing fine well that that would happen, waiting here for me and challenging me to get my finger out all in the name of a very good cause! So I shall scurry back to said uni page and try and get this head into work mode!
