Just seen these on Ebuyer:

http://www.ebuyer.com/product/186618

http://www.ebuyer.com/product/176495

http://www.ebuyer.com/product/189013

Needed for the usual surfing, emails, word processing, editing and storing photos, some gaming (nothing quick or flash)

Also: are Ebuyer okay to buy from these days?

All input greatly appreciated, thanks as I'm hopeless with technical specifications:)

i'd personally go for the first one in the list as the overall spec is better apart from the last one as processor is newer but they reckon a bit overpriced as are new, plus first one you will never run out of storage space etc etc

ebuyer are ok still much of a much if you see what im saying.

Right then. I've decided it's between these two:

One is obviously for the price as my original budget was £300 - £400 incl. monitor.

The second is bigger RAM and HDD in case I need this in the future.

    My questions are:

Would the first one be adequate enough for my needs (I don't mess with videos, watch tv etc or play intense games. I have bought Corel Paint Shop for it to do photo editing projects)?

Is the second one over-kill, or a good way of 'future-proofing' to a certain extent?
And is it worth paying an extra £180 approx. 'all in'. I'm not very techie so wouldn't have the confidence to try fitting extra RAM or whatever myself.

    All advice appreciated, thanks

Either is more than sufficient for you current needs and expectant needs for a couple of years to come... by then, such will be worth £100, so new one will be in order

Wouldn't use pc world myself but that one will suit your needs and be in budget.

Not playing games to much etc then no need for a buttock prodding graphics card etc. Surfing, photo editing and storage you need ram, ram and more ram, and a nice big hard drive

So for me I would go for the one from ebuyer (never used them so could not comment on them as a company), over the PC world one
There are 10 kinds of people that understand binary
    Those that do
    Those that dont

I would disagree, as current Desktop of mine is "flying" for such tasks having 2.4 CPU; 1GB Ram and active(used) 40GB HDD on XP
My laptop (TriBoot: Ubuntu, XP, Win 7) has 1.5CPU; 768 Ram; 30GB HDD- OK'ish on W7, but still fast and good enough win 'ix and XP
My new Laptop 2.8ghz cpu; 2GB RAM, 250GB HDD (running temporaraly) on Vista trully and honestly, just a bit faster, than old Dell, but hardly noticeable difference
Specs of both PC's are aver the top already

Thanks to everyone for the comments so far.
I'm not really keen on using PC World but it does seem to be the best pc + monitor deal I've found so far and I could get up to 3% cashback through cbk with them (no cashback with ebuyer).

Iconic: thanks for the link but I would prefer an Intel rather than an AMD.

Have tried looking on the AVforum for required RAM specification for photo-editing but it gets abit technical for me. I am just abit concerned that 2g RAM would be adequate rather than plenty.

My head is saying 'count the pennies', my heart is saying 'bigger is better'. The trouble is it's no good going for the cheaper option if I need to upgrade or buy again in a couple of years time.

Just double-checking before I go ahead and order:

that the first pc with 2g RAM and 350g HDD will easily cope with photo editing projects using Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo x 2, word processing, storing photos, surfing etc.

    Thanks

Also, do I need to get Norton 360 Security with it, or can I just download something like Avast when I get the pc?
