No buying toiletries in February challenge!

  • While it's fresh in my mind (as I've just used it), I wouldn't buy No 7 P&P hand cream again. It's far too greasy and it doesn't do any of the things it claims to on the tube. It's quite expensive too, definitely not worth the money IMO.

  • Ok I know it's a not buying thread :o but following on from the No 7 nail varnish conversation can anyone recommend a nail varnish that does stay on for a few days? I very rarely bother so when I do I want it to last.

That said the No 7 stuff does last a lot better on toes for me as well.

Sorted out my whole cupboard last night and there will be no more buying till I get through a lot of that stuff.

Oh and started using up leftover bodywash today :)

I was going to post the same thing but then wasn't sure if it was a good idea - I'm glad I wasn't the only one thinking it! I have mainly natural collection and nails inc polishes and neither last very long (but that's probably me not putting it on very well)

grotty day with the pain in my knee today - thnk I might have done some more damage to the cartilage (how? there can't be much left to damage!!) as it feels like it's going to give way again, but the cold and damp isn't helping either. Got my sticky- on heat patch though and that's a bit of a help.
    ......

I've got an awful lot of fragranced candles as well, so I'm trying to use those up as well, and I've been lighting some at night in the living room.

Oh poor you! Knees are a night mare, once damaged they always seem to be weak. I have had some grumbling in one of my knees and have only just realised its from driving DH's car...when I had the same car years ago I had the same problem. Oh well...

Also, lucky you with the fragranced candles, I just love them. :)

re nail varnish, I have a feeling what I need is an industrial strength top coat. I love all my colours, and they would last better if I didn't have to use my hands so much...water and mud are just frequent in my life.

  • I'm going to try using top coat with the no7 next time and see if it lasts any better, some of the colours I've got are lovely and it's such a shame not to use them or have them look good/unchipped for a matter of hours

I used to get my nails painted, they use OPI and it would last most of the week in a really good condition, but it costs £5 each time and when I've got so many to use up myself it seems a bit of a waste.

I've currently got on "nailed polish" by sleek, colour = belle, it's a very pale pink colour, quick drying and only needed one coat. Bought it a while ago from local chemist when OH was in dentist, think it was about £1.99, it has been one of my most used!!
*wonders when they will make dressing gowns acceptable day wear?*
No new toiletries challenge - use up the stash first!

I finished a small tube of Avene moisturiser today, got one small and one large left. It really is very nice.
    WIBA? Defintely.

Judgeaq- I like Avene. I have the light moisturiser, but think I need something a bit richer, although the rich one will probably be too heavy for me!

Another Avene fan here! :T I use their Skin Recovery Cream which really helps when I've tried a new product that doesn't agree with me or if my skin's generally just a bit congested. I was wondering if either of you (or anyone else) have tried their Rich Compensating Cream, their Cold Cream or their Ystheal+ Emulsion and if so, what you thought of them? I'll be needing a new night cream soon and I thought I was going to replace it with the same (Simple Anti-Wrinkle) but I fancy a change. :D I know Avene's a bit pricey but otherwise I'll probably just spend the same amount of money trying a load of cheaper stuff which will make my face flare up... :o

Take it from me, Sally Hansen top coat and it still didn't work, don't waste your time :)

Vicster you have made me feel a LOT better about my cupboard :)

PS I think I might try the OCM tonight!
