Is there anyone else that feels they'll still be on this thread this time next year, still with plenty left to use up _pale_[/QUOTE]
Yes me!
I'm thinking next year and the year after for me. I've got to use up my stash by the end of 2011. (Shower gels only) - they will have come to the end of their "unopened 2 year shelf life". Although, how you can ever tell how long anything has been sat on the shelf in Boots or Binns or a supermarket for, I don't know!! By the time you have got a product home it could be two years old already.
Anyway thanks for that comment it got me thinking.0 -

OK. Scientists grew grain found in storage jars in the Pyramids. That's, IIRC- and I might not- as old as 2750 BC , thats 4760 years ago, for seeds, with no preservatives. They weren't just ok, they GREW, they had life in them. They were stored in pretty ideal conditions, but, essentially in jars in a stone shed. Not vacuum sealed, with a saftey plastic closure, and a sell by date.;)
Chances are that a shower gel, full of preservatives and not actually a living product will last a couple of years past its shelf life, especially if is hasn't been opened.;) Moisturisers, skin creams, especially ones opened and used, with bacteria entering the product and kept in a warm room (or airing cupboard, which naughty person was that?) are probably best used up first, but showergels...I'm pretty sure you are worrying over a minimal risk. I have been using one big bottle of Shower gel on and off for over two years and its fine still.0 -
today i finished a dove deodrant. Got loads more to use up though0

According to hotuk tis reduced to 90p a bottle instead of £3+..... this was at the end of Janury so don't know if its the same offer.loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -
Well as I'm finishing my nights on Sunday morning, I think I shall do another stock take on the smellies.
I have a carrier bag of bananas which need to be turned into banana cakes so I can get the littlies to help me do that whilst sorting through the stash. If I then figure out how to get photos from my phone to the 'puter, I may treat you all to a peek at my stash.
I am feeling virtuous enough to consider buying some more bath smellies because we have 4 bath bombs left and that's it. Mind you, I'm happy without it (I have bought a chocolate and a strawberry £1 each nspa from asda but they are put away for stocking fillers for DD as we bought DS one of his stocking fillers at £2) if I do see them reduced then I will have to seriously consider buying some but will probably hang fire.
DH got confused by me putting the tresemme in the soap pump and didn't realise it was conditioner until mid slimy wash!Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0 -

Today I sort of slipped up, in a very minor way. I bought some Neutrogena norwegian formula hand cream. I don't have any handcream left (though I do have a few 'hand and body lotion' but they're too runny for my hands)... it was only £1.49 in B&M - probably cheap because it had all foreign writing on it. I also bought 'ladies things' - necessity obviously - from Boots with my points, so I'm not counting that as a spend.
Oh and I bought some more Zinc supplements, but I consider these to be a necessity too and they were only 99p so I'm not counting them either
OMO hand cream is a necessity and should be used twice daily. No replacing it would have been wrong, and thats a good, safe reliable choice. Somethings need to be replaced...thats not cheating IMO,cheating would be slipping up and buying shower gel when you have four of them still....in scents you're not keen on...or just in case...;)0 -

I was looking at those today. Really wanted to buy a strawberry one to use but I don't have a bath, argh! It would've been so much fun too.0 -
