Doesn't wireless networking surround us permanently with high frequency radiation, just like mobile phones and cordless landline phones, and what about wireless mouses etc? What's the health angle? Why am I up this late at night anyway?0

have checked and they are both the same computer name and workgroup.
As for the radiation Id give anything to get these things working!!!

Manny, I beleive most wireless networking products come with some lead face plates that you can strap round your head whilst using them to counter radiation. Supplementary packs and smaller sizes for children etc. can be ordered from manufacturers websites.

You need to activate a share on one of the PC's. Got to a C: drive and create a new folder. Right click the folder and select sharing and security. Select 'share this folder' and give it a name. Click OK to close the sharing screen.
Go to the other PC and clcik 'Start, Run' type in the IP address of teh machine you have just created the share on followed by \share name.
Example: \\169.254.123.123\newfoldershare
All thing being equal, you should get and explorer window pop up with the contents of the 'new folder' (probably nothing in, but you get the idea).
Once this works, you can then either shre the whole drive (in the same way as above) or just selected work folders, it's up to you. Over time, your PC's will appear in My network places, but Microsoft Networking can be quite slow, so don't be too dissapointed if you can only get to the other PC by doing waht I have said to start with. Let me know how it goes!0 -
Well I got my wireless connection to work using tc/ip,that meant I could see my work laptop and vice versa for my desktop be it on a network but in network places this showed them on the internet, probbley because I was using tc/ip. But I still couldnt get internet to work,so I read websites and posts here and decided to run network wizard on my desktop,to my delight this worked as in I could get on the internet on my laptop, when I looked in status it showed DHCP had assigned the ip addresses etc. But I could no longer get access to my shared files as these were mapped using the tc/ip address and of course the DHCP server had changed these. Another problem was my desktop now had a manual status of the internet ip of 192.168.0.1 so of course the mapped ip addresses for the desktop from my laptop would no longer work.Am now sure my problems are all setting related but need someone just to guide me through what these settings would be, another pointer was when I shut down my laptop and restarted all the DHCP settings were lost and it reverted back to the old settings. I could I suppose set everything up again, and then when I want to us the internet run the network wizard so i can get access to the internet but this seems a bit of a pain.Any ideas ???0
