Its Zanussi, same as my tumbledrier, its the 1600 speed I wanted ideally to cut TD time, and a 7kg drum which in theory can take a kingsized quilt (ideal for when DD is poorly and sick over my bed:o ) and hopefully cut down the need for bedding to be washed as 3 separate loads (1 kingsized quiltcover & pillows, double quilt cover & 2 pillows, double sheets & kingsized sheet & 2 pillows). :rotfl:

    Opinions please?

Glad you decided on which to buy, Nicki.

I can't comment as mine's a Bosch, but my sister likes her new Zanussi.

Can you clarify what of the above bedding you would put into one load, please.

My current (dead) machine couldn't cope with bedding very well at all. It's a 5kg machine and only spins 1200 so loads would be :

    • 1 kingsized quiltcover & 2 pillow cases
    • double quilt cover & 2 pillowscases
    • double sheet kingsized sheet, single sheet 2 pillowcases
I did try putting them in together in different combinations but the machine wasn't happy no matter what. I use to end up doing the bedding through the week so I could put underwear or a pair of jeans or something in with them to make up the loads (then leading to not enough washing at the weekend to make up proper loads. Used to drive me mad as I could never have just 1 laundry day and would often, due to time restrictions, end up doing 1 load a day every day even though there is only the two of us living here! I long for the day when I can do a light, dark, black, pink, & towel wash :rotfl:

Just a quick "what would you do" question/advice please :o

I'm wanting to order the washing machine but not sure whether to pay "cash" for it using my debit card and have it over and done with at cost price or to use my credit card (therefore having the advantage of Section 75 should something go wrong ;) ). Now for the reason I'm umming and arghing over this:

My credit card limit is almost maxed out (once interest is added then I've usually got under £200 left). I've been keeping track of what I've "paid" for and am currently trying to pay off a £739 PC purchase from 2006 and have £684 of it still outstanding. I've worked out that due to the APR I'm paying on the card, the PC is costing me approximately £3.54 a week in interest. What I was thinking of doing was paying the cash amount I have (plus this months payment) off my credit card and then paying for the washing machine using it. I've calculated that the washing machine will cost me approximately £1.77 a week in interest and will allow me to pay off the computer 18 months earlier than my current payments allow (assuming the APR doesn't go up!). I know it means I'd be paying interest on the washing machine, but surely its better to do that and save myself another £138 interest on the PC (I've already paid double cost for it  ) which is allowing for the interest I would pay on the washing machine.

Does this make sense or am I talking a load of twaddle? :o

I spoke to the sales assistant at Currys regarding loads and asked for advice on loads as I have king size bedding (and it's Egyptian cotton which is quite heavy, especially when wet).

    She said she would do:
    • 1 kingsized quiltcover & 2 pillow cases
    • kingsized sheet
as one load for a 7kg machine.

That's a lot less than you put in.
That's what I've been classing as one load and to be honest, I feel that is about right for the machine.
I can't imagine putting almost twice as much in - even though the information I found on the weight of various items indicates that your load is within the 7kg max load.

Thats interesting, see in my 5kg I would have to do 3 separate washes just for the bedding as

    • 1 kingsized quiltcover & 2 pillow cases (wash 1)
    • double quilt cover & 2 pillowscases (wash 2)
    • double sheet kingsized sheet, single sheet 2 pillowcases (wash 3)
I don't have Egyptian cotton (I have Smartprice bedding) but it still didn't like them. Then I'd have to do other clothing washes and since both DD and myself live in jeans I could end up with an additional 5-6+ loads depending on how many pairs of jeans/tracksuits & other stuff we'd been through (school holidays were the worst as we go through many more clothes then). I think the washing just at the weekend (well Friday & Sunday evenings) in a way cuts down the number of loads I do (when my ex lived with me I'd almost do 1-2 loads a day!) overall but it means that some of the loads I do just tip from the "okay" to "too big for my machine" which is why I've wanted a bigger drum.

I once sat and sorted all the washing out into the different loads I was going to do and then weighed each one, brought the piles down to 5kg and increased the number of loads from something like 4 to 8 due to jeans & other heavy items. I must say though that it was during the school holidays, ex was living with us at the time and he lived in jeans as well and we'd just spent a week away so I had a full weeks worth of washing to do (thankfully no bedding - changed & washed & remade the day we left) despite having done everything the day we were going away!

I admit I have abused my washing machine over the years :o:o:o

    I think I've been a bit dim.
    :o:o:o

I interpreted your list as one complete load not 3 SEPARATE ones!

I thought 'no wonder her washing machine's conked out'. :rotfl:

The lady from Currys said she'd put 1 double duvet cover, 1 double sheet, 2 pillowcases in a 6kg machine and king size duvet cover, king size sheet, 2 pillowcases in a 7kg one.

    Regards

Its okay, reading that list through again now my brain is starting to function properly after being ill, (today I've stopped having to take cold/cough/pain medicine combinations - not all at the same time though, I did spread them out over the day :p) I realise it could be taken as one large load :o:rotfl:
