HELP!! Asda self scan
Comments
-
The printable e-coupons are a little unpredictable and mostly won't scan (only tried on Asda self-scans). However, on one occasion the assistant saw I was struggling and entered the values all by hand!
With more printable coupons on another occasion the assistant refused to type in the amounts and just entered the barcode which for some reason would not equate to a figure...no money-off that time;) I think that the printable coupons sometimes won't scan if you make them too small. For instance, with the 'uncut' voucher, when I first printed it came out as A4 size (I wasn't about to try and scan that!), so I resized it to about 35%...this must obscure the barcode image.
The free Asda magazine which comes out monthly usually has about £3 worth of vouchers and these are always reliable scanners as are the majority of cut-outs.
Hope this helps

Asda Pilsworth also has self-scan checkouts now.
They're a flippin nuisance!
"Unexpected item in bagging area....please remove item" x20...
They try and make out you are shoplifting when all you've done is legitimately pack your shopping!
Bring back real human checkout operators!0 -

Bring back real human checkout operators!
Asda in Bury also have them also, but they don't seem to like it when you have to key in barcodes.Work like you don't need money,Love like you've never been hurt,And dance like no one's watchingSave the cheerleader, save the world!0 -
HI! I work in ASDA (unfortunately - but only for another 2 weeks then iam back to university) .
All Asda's will eventually be getting self scan checkouts. We have them already and we take coupons on them. This is ASDA Corby, as mentioned above.
Asda's coupon policy is that we can take unlimited coupons if you have brought the product, 10% if you haven't and if its an ASDA coupon then you MUST buy the product. Obviously they wont take other supermarkets coupons.
Most of the operators will take whatever you hand them. I only get a bit unsure when the customer has only got about £5 worth of shopping and wants to use £4.50 worth of coupons, I think that's a bit off.
You need to remember its not the checkout operators fault though, if we have an abnormally large amount of coupons in our till at the end of the day they will do a check of the transactions through that checkout to make sure you haven't been taking more than you should and if they really want to make an example out of you they are within their rights to fire you as it is classed as defrauding the company. Although I haven't seen this happen yet.
I personally don't see why they worry too much though. For example, if you have a coupon for a tin of beans free which should be 59p RRP and ASDA sell it for 49p, all we do is scan the barcode, it takes the 59p off (so you save an extra 10p really) and ASDA get the full 59p back AND a handling fee. So they don't loose out on the coupons you take as long as they are valid and in date.0 -
asda morley have them now aswell which is very handy as it is on my way home from work. no problem using coupons either - cmcgeeney it may be worth bobbing there instead of the wakefield one if u have a car - not that far away, if u doing a big shop u would easily cover the cost of petrol using coupons.Cleaning the house while children are growing is like shovelling snow when it's still snowing!0

the self scan when it first opened in our local one was great for using coupons but just lately they've really tightened up on them. As soon as the assistant hears "insert your coupon" they check your shopping on their screen and if you've used more than the 10% they come over and remove the coupon and adjust the billThere will always be:
A “LIE” in BELIEVE, an “OVER” in LOVER, an “END” in FRIEND, an “US” in TRUST , and an “IF” in LIFE

I had a good shop on the self scan in tesco yesterday.
They had covered the coupon slot up, and i needed to use my extra points coupons, so i asked the assistant and she came and opened the till up. I then scanned them and she put them in. I asked if i could use some without actually buying the product and she said as long as they scan they would take them!!!! So i knocked more than half of my shopping bill off!
