Usual method. Take gulible people in a desperate position and extract money from them with the promise of giving it them back.
it's along the same lines as the lottery scams work (You've won/inherited/help us send to uk/ money but to process your claim please send us £XXX.)
Did it sound too good to be true? (A buyer after 18+ months on the market?) yes. Was it too good to be true? yes.0 -
and yes I did get my 10% paid back to me after 14 days.0

Its called a 'convincer'.
Its aim is to allay your fears so you continue in your position as a 'mark' and don't become suspicious. Usually its another member of the gang pretending to be a bona-fide member of the public for whom whatever they are trying to sell you into worked.
Check out 'The Real Hustle' on BBC3.
Not sure how it works here in that sense, but bear in mind that they took 1% and have given you 0.1% back. They still hold 0.9% of your initial deposit - still a healthy bit of cash.0 -
My thoughts on this one was is if you just get 250 people paying 1% of sale price eg £2000 each thats £500,000 and growing each time someone else pays, it would make sense for them to keep people interested as the longer they can string it out the more people they can suck in. I know im cynical and i hope for everyone that has parted with money that i'm wrong but i do feel its going to go belly up.0
